Rumortoid: BioShock PS3 exclusive content and also, zoo photo

Looks like PlayStation 3 fans are about to get a little more BioShock for their BioBucks, if this new rumor is anything to be believed. When it was first revealed that BioShock would be heading to the PS3, people wondered if any decent exclusive content was on the way, and it now it seems that it may well be.

Among the "insider info" floating around is news of a brand new opening movie for the game that is said to run at six minutes long and show what Rapture was like before the fall. More importantly, a whole new level is said to be exclusive to the PS3. This is rumored to be the "zoo" section that 2K was unable to put into the 360 release due to time constraints. Trophies will apparently be part of the game as well, along with the obligatory Sixaxis support. For the graphics whores, increased visual quality, reduced loading times and less pop-in are also on the cards.

Again, this is nothing but gossip right now, but if it's true, then Sony fans have a lot to be smug about. Aside from the opening movie (I don't need to see Rapture pre-fall, I have an imagination, thanks), there is some juicy potential here to make BioShock PS3 superior to the original.

If you're an Xbox 360 guy though, here's hoping for DLC, right?

Doesn't really bother me that much, I'll be able to see the opening scene when it's uploaded on Youtube and more than likely the extra level will eventually be available as DLC and if it isn't released as DLC it's not really that big of a loss.

I'm not going to pay $10 for an opening cinema. Crazy talk.

I second the youtube motion.

"reduced loading times"

4GB mandatory install supplied at no extra charge? Better get finishing those copies of MGS4 so you can make room for Bioshock :P

Good news (read rumor) for the PS3 users.

I doubt it will be worth a rebuy though.

It's an fps, I'd rather play it on my PC.
I think I might go replay it, actually <_<

Anyway, offering opening movies as extra content is silly, we all have youtube. Levels... yeah, that's good. Should have new plasmids, though. Maybe a fanboy plasmid, that causes your enemies to get mad over the smallest things and eventually collapse against the wall crying.
<_< just a thought.

I was going to buy it anyway so I can actually play the damned game. My 360 (not saying it's a badly made pile of shite or anything) keeps giving me disc read errors and crashes once every hour or so.

good news for ps3 owners, like me, who have'nt experienced bioshock before, this is why the extra movie is included, and you guys seem to be missing the point, 2k is trying to pander to the ps3 only crowd, so the extra content is good for peole like me, also, fair enough we all have youtube, but nothing beats wtaching any game on a hi-def screen, simple as

New level is new content. Who cares about trophies or load times or what not if you have already played the game.

Quit your flames.

only thing of interest is the zoo level if true. I feel like showing early Rapture before the fall is just dumbing down the story TOO much. Why not just tell me the ending while they are at it or the twist early? That's actually insulting to the gamer since throughout the whole game they are painting that picture for you though the tapes.

Hopefully the new stage/area can be on the PC version. It already has the better graphics not seen on the 360 and I'm positive the PS3 version wont be better looking in that regard.

I might be interested in the "Zoo" if it houses some of the not so well off people of Rapture. With all of those experiments going on you would imagine a few mistakes were born... I mean other then everyone going batshit insane.

This kind of news should be expected, Bioshock has been out for a considerable time on 360/PC, let's hope the wait is justified.

Bioshock was my favorite game on the 360 and I was already sold about buying it for my PS3. Now it just gets better.

Meh, this kind of annoys me but at the same time its kind of neat to have new stuff I guess. I own a PS3 but I certainly won't be running out to buy another copy (I own the PC version) just to play around with a couple new things. The game itself won't change as the experience will still be the same.

This strive to give games exclusivities to fight the console wars seems pretty cheap to me. Just make a the fucking game with all content in it in the first place and be done I say. DLC, re releases, and most gamers willing to spend more money will disagree with me, and probably will forever in this new age of gaming. But whatever. Get off my lawn!

Tuxy:

Why would they do that? There would be no incentive for people to buy the PS3 version. They're a company, they want to make money.

Since I'm getting a PS3 anyways (Metal Gear!?), and haven't played Bioshock yet, and don't already have a 360 or a decent PC, I'll buy this. Extra content is just icing on the cake, which I've heard is a lie.

The video sounds completely unnecessary, and if it plays before the game starts, that really takes away from the reveal in the opening sequence. I really hope that's not the case.

Yeah, I think this will be worth a rebuy. I have the pc version but I think I'll be picking up this console version as well. It's a wicked game and I want to own the best version on the market. If this is all true of course, which, if they want to actually sell copies, is probably the case.
