Rumortoid: A new OutRun game coming from Sega and THQ? photo

Racing games are not my usual tipple, but I have fond memories of playing OutRun on an arcade machine at Brand's Hatch with my brother. I think it's just because it had a girlfriend in the car. For some reason that struck me as a mindblowing innovation.

Anyway, this pointless dilly-dallying leads to the rumor that Sega and THQ are working together to give us another dose of this classic racer. The OFLC, Australia's rating board, currently has a listing for OutRun Online Arcade, developed for multiple platforms. 

Sounds good to me. Until we can get an official statement, this is just a rumor, but these listings can often be a good indicator that a game is in the works. With OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast being quite a critical success, I would say this is a likely one.

Oh man, Coast 2 Coast is probably my most played PSP game, this needs to come sooner!

Y'know what doesn't sound good to me? THQ's filthy, filthy paws all over my beloved OutRun. How dare they. I sincerely hope from the bottom of my cold, black heart that THQ goes bankrupt before anything comes of this, and that the homes of all of their employees are foreclosed upon.

That said, if they're just publishing it, sweet!

It'd be great if when you start racing really well, the girl starts to give you roadhead.

And then you start to race really poorly.
