LOL. Big no to Nintendo for paying 400 dollars. I guess we have to pay extra for those multimedia/social/tablet functionalities when some people just want to play games.
Reiterating what naninani said. $300 or $350 for the WiiU with the Control Pad whatever-the-hell-they're-calling-it-now thing.
No thanks at $400. This system to me is novelty and I am waiting for next box and ps4. 300$ may have made me say I'd get it just to get it.
haha....no. I'll pass on a $400 Nintendo console. I know they don't like selling at a loss, but I can sit this one out for awhile if that's the price point. Nintendo's not done much to convince me that they want my business anymore in the last 5-6 years.
$400 is a bit much for me right now but I'll definitely jump on it once it drops to $300. The last thing I wanted to do was get excited for the Wii U but it seems that I have failed :(

I can too, but I don't like it. And I'd rather have a Pro controller included then another Wii-Mote.. Unless they change something about the Wii-Mote theres no reason you can't go get one used for cheap (if you don't already have 4 laying around...)

$400 for a system about on par with the $250 PS3 and 360 that'll likely get cut by the time it's out? HAHAHAHAHA! Not a chance I'm paying that. $300 was the ceiling. 3DS all over again.
It's worth noting that their consoles on Japan are usually more expensive than in the US, so don't really expect it to be $400. Still, with the tablet controller and all that, I doubt it will be cheap.
Nintendo is too smart to sell a $400 console... Any armchair analyst will tell you that NOBODY will buy a Wii U at that price. I'd buy it at $350 if a game came packed in, and $300 without one. Average schmucks are probably gonna' wait until a dip to under $300 before picking one up; and that's if they even pay attention this gen...
lol, people didn't have problem paying 400-800$ for 360/ps3, but when Nintendo is making a system 350-400$ for a system with a game and tablet controller "is asking for too much". how many of you paid over 600$ for an iPad or other apple products even though they're selling those devices at over 200-300$ profit on average - you had no problem paying for that crap.
Why do people insist on doing strict yen-to-dollar conversions? If anything, I read that as a sign that the Wii U will probably be $300 in the US. The 3DS launched as 25000 yen in Japan and $250 in the US, after all.
That's cool. If all of their core launch titles support the pro controller, I can see a day one purchase.

Considering I have no plans to purchase a Wii U after the Wii debacle I have no right to say anything but god damn that is a steep price.

I really want a Wii U, but I'm not going to be able to afford one at launch. Although $350 seems somewhat reasonable that's just out of my price range. I'll just keep playing games on 3DS for another year or 2.

Considering the current prices for PS3 and X360 even at 300$ is a risk considering they don't have the ample libraries the other 2 have, much less 400$.

The PS3 launched at $500.
And those were at 2005-06 dollars.

And those of you who keep repeating the lie that it's the equivelant of the PS360 need to stop eating your own feces, because apparently it is turning your own brain to s***. It has already been said that it will be a more powerful system by every developer that's spoken about it except 1 or 2 anonymous devs. Sad this is, you all already know that. Which means you're just squeezing the s*** out of your head and back out of your mouth. Reality says you'll pay a lot more than that just to get the "grown-up" system from MS/Sony two years from now. Meanwhile, we who are more open-minded will be having blast with a BRAND NEW CONSOLE while the rest of you play the outdated stuff.

I'm sure they've learned a lesson after pricing the 3ds too high. I'll be surprised if the system is over $300, though I'll pay whatever they want me to. I'm such a sucker for Nintendo hardware.
How about two version of the Wii-U, one with the tablet $349 and another one with the "cough" xbox controller "cough" for $269:). I'm more interested on the wii-U and xbox controller. On Sunday's presentation, Nintendo sold me the wii-U when they introduced the xbox controller. I hope to GOD that Nintendo supports the xbox controller on all their 3rd party software. Give the players the option to enjoy the games on the pad or xbox controller dammit.. Also release a Mario Galaxy HD collection that supports the controller..make it happen.

Good God, people here are dumb. It´s just a rumor right now so nothing has been confirmed yet. Let´s hope is less than this, but wait till the actual price is revealed before you start bitching

It'd be dead in the water at that price. Their precious casual market isn't going to put up that kind of money when they can game on their Wiis and smartphones.
I think PS3/360 gamers are looking for a next-gen experience visually, even if they deny it. It doesn't look like the Wii-U will be able to deliver that, though. And after Kinect/Move I don't think another gimmicky controller is going to motivate anyone.

As someone who bought all three consoles at launch in the last go round, I'm waiting on this one. The wii got so little play time compared to Sony & M$ for me. And this economy blows.

Perhaps this is a good rumor for Nintendo to have going for it. Remember before the iPad launched, how "analysts" kept saying it could cost as much as $1,000; but when the real price came out the base version was a lot cheaper than that. I think that tactic helped convince people that the price was a "deal." So if Nintendo can keep the $400 price point rumor going for a while, then announce it'll be $300, more gamers might see it as a steal compared to what it could have been.
