Rumor: Team Ico's 'Project Trico' revealed photo

Okay, before I go any further please note the fat "rumor" in the headline of this story. Got it? Okay.

So what you'll find after the jump is a supposed trailer for Team ICO's next project, titled "Project Trico." The footage comes from PlayStation blog PlayStation LifeStyle with no source, and no information on the game outside "this is very early footage the next game from Team ICO." With that said, at this time there's no way to verify this trailer and the accompanying images. I'm throwing it out here because well... it's pretty damned cool.

The trailer (which you can see after the jump) shows a game that appears to follow the adventures of a young boy and a very large, rat-like companion that he uses to traverse a temple-like environment. The look is in line with Team ICO's other projects, and looks to be an interesting mix of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus' gameplay.

If this is a fake, it's really damned good one, and Fumito Ueda should probably hire the person (or persons) who put this together. If it is legit (and based solely on the quality of the video and sound, it may very well be), one has to wonder where or how PlayStation LifeStyle got their hands on the trailer. Nothing against the site, but this seems more like an E3 reveal than a quiet blog premiere.

I watched the video again, and there's no way this is legit -- you can't see that creatures anus as it walks through the cave, and the camera pans around to its backside. There's no way Team ICO would waste the power of the cell processor like that.

Looks very legit, that's the same chain (the one at the start) we've been seeing for the last couple of years where this game is concerned.

I really didn't care for SotC, so I'm really not that pumped for this game, I understand why everyone else is. It's a very creative and interesting game, it just didn't tickle my fancy.

Gah! this is worse than the BG&E2 leak. At least that was clearly by Ubisoft and was connected to BG&E, you could see Jade's face pretty clearly. This looks like a fan thing, especially the kid, Team ICO could make a much better character model. But the rat-chihuahua-griffon creature and the whole premise and the architecture look really Team ICO-ish. But then again, would Team ICO reveal so much about their next project in the first video? If this was legit, I'll be surprised. Also, the name, if this was a real Team ICO thing, I'd garunteed there would be a "working title" tag added in. Project Trico, what is this? Ico fan fic?

Hrmm........ the backgrounds and settings do seem very legit, but it's the fact that the kid and creature lack polish that shows the holes in this trailer...... but the deciding factor for me was that the music came from another movie..... usually a telltale sign, at least when it comes to games.

These are the same fellows that blew the lid off the PSP Go! on N4G...until it was pointed out that Destructoid had talked about it a month earlier.

They are also promising hardware photos and retail box shots of the PSP Go before E3 (actually this week).

BTW...this trailer is a minimum of 160 days old...so unlikely to be E3 footage. It was shown to 'insiders' last year at TGS.

Why is the music throwing so many people off? Gears of War had a trailer using "Mad World", which was also in the movie Donnie Darko.
