A rather substantial rumor has slapped into the Internet's greasy hands today, with talk of a nostalgic collection that will bring ICO and Shadow of the Colossus to the PS3 in HD. The rumor has been reported by both VG247 and The Sixth Axis. Everybody knows that two sources make a rumor true!
The rumors say that the HD re-releases will launch in the first quarter of next year, and if true, it will likely come out in time to promote Team ICO's first big PS3 game, The Last Guardian. Naturally, this is all gormless speculation at the moment, so don't hold your breath just yet. Would be pretty awesome if true though, no?
Let's just play with fantasy a moment and suppose this is definitely a thing. Would you buy it? Yes or no.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Do it for the PS2 Metal Gears
I've completed SOTC, only to realise you're meant to replay it to get special items a la Zelda.
I've always wanted to play ICO.
These games both covered the flaws in their GFX on a last gen system really well - it would be really cool to see them in higher resolution textures and in HD.
Too many games, I wanna play new stuff and not rehashed graphic updates, as good as the original games are.
I already own ICO and SotC, and if I wanted to play them so badly I'd just stick them in my PS2.
Besides, The Last Guardian really needs no further hyping for me :)
I will buy a HD Collection, no questions asked.
Remaking these in HD with a constant 60 FPS would make that game SO much better, it would be incredible.
Yes please.
You are a fool if you buy these games in HD. Period.
The only others I can really think of would be MGS2/3. (PLEASE!!!) My PS2 finally died on me a year ago and I've been dying to play these again.
It would be worth being able to afford food.
1 - Ico is already somewhat hard to find
2 - The US release saw the subtitles and watermelons cut out... perfect time to put it back in
3 - SotC, while more common, is held back by the limitations of the PS2. Even if it were just rereleased to harness the processing of the PS3, it would be more than worth it.
And you can bet Sony will handle the box art better this time.
Fuck new games and their inability to have substance.
Anyway, I've never owned ICO, so consider this bought. :)
same goes for MGS2 & 3
silent hill 2 would be welcome too
@ Aurain
I'd rather see the MSX titles remade for this generation. If they're going to go all out and remake Metal Gear Solid for the Gamecube, then why not do the same for the lesser played games in the series and bring all new appreciation to those titles?
