A Dutch Sega fansite seems to have discovered that Sonic Adventure is on its way to Xbox Live Arcade. Not only that, but something called Sonic Adventure Extend Package is also in the works. If I had to take a guess, Extend Package could be the bonus content that came with Sonic Adventure DX for the GameCube such as the bonus Game Gear games.
This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise as Sega likes to re-package their old games (not that that's a bad thing.) Plus, if you remember the leaked Sega documents, Sega was interested in bringing Dreamcast games to the digital market.
We've reached out to Sega to see what they have to say on the matter. Until then, is anyone excited? I would be, but then I remember that I would have to play through all of Big the Cat's levels again.
[Update: SegaOnline has taken down their story at the request of Sega Europe.]

He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Please oh sweet fucking Jesus in heaven let this be true. Oh FUCK let this be true.
If they release Sonic Adventure 2 as well I will literally shit my pants no lie. I think I already pissed a little bit just reading the headline.
It's a Dutch site, not Netherlands. Thats the wrong use of the word. ;)
This picture was taken on a Xbox 360 dev console connected to partnernet (which is xbox live, except that only dev's can connect to it, for testing purposes).
ExtendPackage is just a placeholder for test crap, not a offcial name for something.
I have never laughed harder until that post...
What's that Sonic Adventure Extend Package though?
Either way, one of the few good 3d Sonic games on live? Can't say no to that.
Actually, I really like this game for more than just nostalgia. I played through it only last year and it was still great. I hope I get the opportunity to do it and gain some gamerscore along the way :)
At least, there shouldn't be. Take out "the" and there's a more accurate description of the experience.
And what does that say for those of us who beat it last summer and still love the shit out of it?
I play through SA 1 or 2 once every year an every time I love it just as much as the respective Christmas' when I received them.
Bring it I say. Bring hard and fast!
I hope this goes to PSN as well since my PS3 has a 320GB harddrive compared to a puny, pathetic 10GBs for the 360. Seriously, size DOES matter.
Ummmm, I have finished the Japanese version, so the story was lost on me, but I really did enjoy this game originally. Vividly remeber a lever where you got to the top of a vuilding then raced down the front of it. Oh, and the bit where you run into the screen and a killer whale is pursuing. Good times.
And finally...
QUICK, GET THE TROLL NET!!! ONE ESCAPED!!!
I think this is pretty much a lock, it's been rumoured for PSN for a while now and it seems feasible that there are similar deals in place with MS.
I don't even notice when I swear anymore. :P
Until I see Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, Three Dirty Dwarves and Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Deka re-released with online co-op, I'll still be feeling burned.
Anyway, if SA comes to PSN, I'll pick it up... even though if they would re-release any Dreamcast games, I'd prefer to see this after Alien Front Online, Chu Chu Rocket and Jet Set Radio. All those games would benefit far more from being on an online platform. (the first two for simply having online play, the third for being able to save images to the hard drive and use them as graffiti.)
@Xzliac - Fair do's.
Where as I have found myself swearing less, guess thats what happens when you get rid of MW2 :-) oh, and Themightylongname2009 is two whole characters longer than my actual username....
"Until I see Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, Three Dirty Dwarves and Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Deka re-released with online co-op, I'll still be feeling burned."
Right with you there pal
And even if it isn't the camera messing that up, I really hate that boss.
*sweat*
I have DX on the GameCube, but I'd still rebuy this. The Dreamcast version was full of some of the coolest glitches ever.
Jet Grind Radio, on the other hand, I'd buy the shit out of.
MAKE A NEW JET SET RADIO AND STOP FUCKING AROUND!
I'll say it as long as I need to
Sonic Adventure will always suck ass, compared to SA2B.
Also, PLEASE BRING OUT VIRTUAL ON FOR PS3.
I'm honestly not a huge fan of Sonic Adventure, but to say it is worse that Sonic Adventure 2? Someone needs to lay off the peace pipe.
"Hey, remember those 'Find-And-Seek' missions we gave Knuckles in SA that everybody hated? Let's double the amount of times people have to do them by adding a new character that has to do the exact same thing!"
"Oh, and while we're at it, let's make Tails and Robotnik have the same sub-par 'Scan and Shoot' gameplay that Gamma had!"
"And to make this an instant success, let's make one of the main characters an evil Sonic doppleganger! Everybody loves dopplegangers!"
