Aw. That's fairly sad. Then again, it seems that the head of Team Bondi brought this on himself. I know it takes a lot of effort and sacrifice to make a good game, and L.A Noire is a good game, and I didn't work on L.A Noire, but you shouldn't be so brazenly unrepentant when faced with such allegations. McNamara sounds like a terror to work with - would it have been so hard to simply say "I'm aware that conditions were bad and that I stepped on a few toes, and I'm sorry that happened, but at the end of the day the team made a good game and in the future we'll try to be more relaxed"? When faced with allegations of employee abuse and mismanagement (it seems like it was rockstar who saved the game, and that McNamara was bungling the project for years), you SHOULDN'T cross your arms and basically say "SO WHAT!?!"
I imagine that after these allegations have been leaked, few will want to work with him. Rockstar sure don't want to. And they own the rights to the L.A Noire IP. McNamara is probably going on one of this legendary freak outs in his office right now.

Rockstar San Diego made similar allegations with Red Dead development. Interesting, seems to be common theme around Rockstar published games.
This is quite strange. It's a side of Rockstar that I never really see, since they're a fairly secretive company. McNamara seemed like a pretty cool dude when interviewed.
There is quite a bit wrong with L.A. Noire in terms of production, so it appears. Shame, because Team Bondi did a great job.

Brendan looks like a bouncer i.e. a bully, so it doesn't surprise me. In a creative environment people don't respond well to cattle prodding.
At least R* hold the rights to L.A. Noire, so I have high hopes for the next game. Red Dead Revolver was a so so game because it was inherited from Crapcom. Whereas Redemption was all R* & was utterly fabulous.

The game was alright. Was definitely more of a game than Heavy Rain though. What mRandyJacskon said.
It's a shame, the last Rockstar game I played before L.A. Noir? Red Dead Redemption. Long story short? RDR > L.A.Noir.

That IGN article about the work conditions there made me hate Team Bondi quite a lot, specially that McNamara guy
I played throught the first two desks and got bored/frustrated and gave up. The fact that the evidence you had to choose in the correct order seemed so arbitrary and if you did it wrong you missed out on huge sections of the game was a major design flaw. But I was impressed with the facial mapping and the open world of LA was beautiful. If only there was more to do.
So played this today;
Seems almost like a HD uber dark Phoenix Wright. The facial "tell" system doesn't always work great.
Another point, they seem to have spent years on facial animation... and less on the rest. As such, it's really jarring, almost creepy to see a super detailed, almost lifelike head on a much messier body model.
Apart from that, the game seemed like a lot of fun, but not full price fun. I'll be waiting.

They seem to have made a lot of good ports, but none of them was a PC port, so i have some doubts. New England studio did a so-so job with Bully.

I'll make sure to buy LA Noire second-hand. There's a difference between being assertive and being oppressive, Mr McNamara.

It's only critically acclaimed due to Rockstar's pressure. It's thoroughly mediocre in all respects.

Glad to hear the franchise is in Rockstar's hands actually, maybe they'll get it done in half the time. A quarter of the time. And put a proper overworld in.
L.A. Noire was my GOTY so far. I really hope there is another one or at least another game just like it, but better.

I can't help but ask why there's so much controversy now on Bondi when EA and Activision have been doing this to developers for years.
@ Jimmyx: It wasn't a flop, as both versions have sold over 1 million copies and continue to sell well many weeks after release.

I didnt even like LA Noir until the halfway point then 5 mins after I hated it again , I hate every rockstar game apart from anything on the PS2 including Red Dead Revolver

I was finding it enjoyable until I realized the evidence and interrogations were meaningless because the game would railroad you to the culprit no matter how badly you screwed up.
And my god, did the whole game fall apart at the end.

What EternalDeathSlayer said. The game you could compare L.A. Noire to is Mafia 2! Also why do some people still want L.A. Noire to be GTA? Its clearly not.
