According to specialty retailer GameStop, bundles for Activision's upcoming Tony Hawk Ride and DJ Hero will run you a cool $119.99.
Both games require the use of a dedicated peripheral, designed exclusively for the each of the games; without them, you simply couldn't play the games. Ride's skateboard peripheral is a hands-free experience, a board equipped with accelerometers and motion sensors to detects movement. According to a recent Game Informer preview, the DJ Hero turntable controller will feature three buttons on a spinning plate, coupled with some sort of cross-fader to mix songs during gameplay.
Tony Hawk Ride and DJ Hero are scheduled to ship this holiday; GameStop has their release dates for October 13 and October 29 respectively. While neither the price of date have been officially set in stone by Activision, retailers like GameStop often have an inside track on stuff like this in order to plan their year. On the other hand, the retailer also has to to get something in the system in order to start getting those precious pre-order dollars.
We contacted Activision late last week for reply, but are still awaiting a solid response. We think they're working on new ways to craft the ol' "we don't comment on rumors and speculation" line.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
However if they would make some decent current gen light gun games, I could go for some of those.
Couldn't people actually buy a real skateboard and a few sessions at a skate park for that price?
I mean, not to knock the neat-ness of the whole concept, but if you're asking people to get a skateboard controller and do actual tricks on the board, physically exerting themselves the same way that they would if they were really riding a skateboard... Wouldn't that really be redundant?
Plus, if you're someone like me, who's uncoordinated on skateboards, it seems very alienating to release a game with a setup like this. It's like releasing Trauma Center with a real scalpel and syringe, or Guitar Hero with an actual 6 string guitar.
Can I at least tilt the Rideboard to get Star Power?
When confronted with large price tags, consumers will compare similar products to see if the price is reasonable.
Guitar Hero Game + 2 Guitars = $99
DJ Hero + 1 Turn Table = $120
$20 MORE money for LESS fun. I don't see how any of these games will be able to market themselves with SINGLE PLAYER peripherals that push them past the $100 mark.
Even Wii Fit is cheaper than this crap!
