Rumor: Resident Evil 6 could be set in China photo

Put on your Speculation Spectacles, folks! Resident Evil 6 has popped up in a couple of different places in the past day or so, and the latest appearance seems to point to a China setting for Capcom's upcoming sequel.

Chinese voice actress Wendy Mok last played an islander in Dead Island, but her latest gig listed is from Resident Evil 6; she played a Chinese villager/zombie. Wait, zombies talk?

It's far from confirmation, but why else would they cast a Chinese villager? Chinatown in San Francisco? Nah.

Yesterday voice actor Joe Cappelletti had Resident Evil 6 listed in his resume. It's gone now, of course.

How about no more exotic locations and just leave the game in good old USA. Cities+Abandoned/Destroyed Buildins+T-Virus = Win

Resident Evil 4 had a good exotic location because it didn't exploit it. Resident Evil 5 tried to be soo exotic it never let you roam through a single, consistent place

If these rumors turn out to be true, will the enemies be called Kyonshies/Jiang Shis? Will there be a cameo appearance by Hsien-Ko/Lei-Lei in a Resident Evil game?
Better yet, will there be B.O.W.s that look like big fuzzy Chinese dragons?

Turns out the T-Virus was just a byproduct of importing Mandarin Oranges.

I'd like to point out that this doesn't really mean anything, RE5 had asians, white guys and black guys (after the racist outburtsts) so this could just Capcom thinking ahead, might be taking place in New Zeeland for all we know.

Makes sense. China owns all.

To be honest, the idea of featuring a country with a serious overpopulation issue makes this very interesting.

Regardless, this is Resident Evil so it will be just cheesier than a DiGiorno's.

So now it's China's turn to be hit by the Aryan Extermination Team that we've come to know and love from the previous Resident Evil games? Couldn't care less about what they do, and where it's located, just want the series to be actually... scary again...

Apparently capcon hasn't learned from re5, they aren't allowed to put a game anywhere with one majority race.

Oh wait, no one complained about re4 and all the spanish zombies. Its only black people that aren't allowed to be villians

But somehow thata not racist

It seems like Capcom instructed them to do this. I'd imagine voice actors would have been told to not put credits for something that hasn't been announced yet. I know that have to sign papers about stuff like this all the time. That 2 people have done this within days of each other nearly confirms these suspicion to me.

Think about how many people live in China.
Now imagine zombie apocalypse there.
We're fucked.

It'd be an interesting setting, but perhaps hard to do justice to. Still, it's disappointing that outside of Dynasty Warriors's 70 years or so snippet of Chinese history, it's largely ignored as a videogame setting, despite being the oldest continuous civilisation in human history, consistently one of the world's largest empires housing one of the world's largest populations.

Calling it now:

Resident Evil 6 is going to star Ada Wong. We are going to find out more about the other organization she was working for - the one against Umbrella - as it spans over her life and fills in the holes of what the hell she has been doing behind the scenes while being behind the scene.

Considering Capcom can't create a RE story these days without recycling characters like crutches, I don't think anyone had to worry about missing Ada Eng.

I would love to see suburbia zombified again without retconning Umbrella operatives with psychic powers into the mix.

Eh, it could be, or it could be a Chinatown any where (theres Chinatowns all over the place) or villager could be a total misnomer all together.

Wouldn't be against China being the setting though, if Capcom has the werewolf nards to do that, but I'd also except eastern Europe or Russia as other places (that goes for New Assassin's creeds too.. A Russian Assassin's creed, being all jumpy jump all over the Kremlin would be awesome.)
