DLC characters.? More milking eh. I'm guessing that alternate colors would be paid too even if they're included on the disk already. Sigh.
If this is right, then I'm happy. They seem to have done a thorough job in removing characters who either weren't unique or threw the game off quite a bit (anyone who plays 2 knows that they exist, no way around it). In fact, watching some of the gameplay, I can definitely see where they rounded out a lot of characters, but I think Dormmamu is gonna be the next somewhat "cheap" character. Somewhat. Anyways, I'm not disappointed with the roster changing. If its a different game it'll be worth playing and it will still make 2 worth playing. I mean, we still play the other Street Fighter games, right?
I'm not too fussed about Venom or Mega Man. I was at first, then realised the game has more than enough characters to keep me smiling. If, when the dlc strikes, i want more, they'll be there. Besides, Capcom wouldn't want to dish out all the great characters, otherwise they wouldn't have anyone cool enough for the dlc. Good thinking Capcom.
Jean is by far my favorite X-Man, so I'm pretty pleased that she's (hopefully)finally showning up In MvC. No Psylocke makes me a sad panda, though.
As long as Mango is one of Sentinel's alternate colors, then I can sleep at night.

Really hope Taskmaster is really in the game. One of my favorite Marvel characters, plus a Deadpool/Taskmaster team would be awesome.

They could have at least assuaged the fail by adding the list of characters holmes said were considered, but instead they were too busy adding lame and boring female counterparts of male characters (x-23, she hulk, trish). The only thing worse is if they add Phoenix wright as a dlc character. Then the shit is gonna storm.

Phoenix apparently wasn't considered very seriously by Capcom, and Venom probably didn't make it due to how animated he'd have to be.
The only characters 'cut' from the disc are Frank West and Human Torch, both due to RAM/slowdown issues.

As much as I love Frank West (he's one of my mains in TvC), I'm kind of glad he isn't in simply because I kind of wanted Chuck Greene instead or even a new Capcom character that hasn't been in a MvC game, like say, Dr. Wily or Osmond Saddler, or even Krauser. Of course, if those rumors are true, I guess I'm ok with getting some of these characters initially if it means we can get some rocking DLC.
If you've been following the developments of the game closely (ie interviews and such) the list seems plausible. While there are obviously some disappointments in regards to character omissions, you can't forget that Capcom has to appeal to the hardcore fighting game community as well as the mainstream crowd, which is a tough balancing act when you're using a well known license like Marvel's. Even though my main from MVC2 is out (Strider), I think Capcom did a pretty good job with the roster. Now I just hope they dont nickel & dime us to hell with dlc.
Sad to see Akuma (Hurray, clones!), but more than happy to see both Hsien-Ko and Haggar. Couldn't care less about the Marvel side, but the Capcom side is more than enough to make me happy.
I'm sure Mega Man, Frank West, and possibly every Capcom character from TvC will be imported into this game through DLC, so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over their omission.

Mega Man not on disk just lost a lot of day one buys, considering by summer of next year no one outside of the fighting game community will even give two rats ass about this game. Its not going to sell 50,000 units. If it does, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I didn't it to come off as if I was saying Hsien-Ko was a clone of anyone. I'm just sorta shocked that they would bring a third character from a series that hardly anyone knows of over a second well-known Spiderman character or a recently popular character (Frank). She might not be well known - but if Capcom is planning to make a new Darkstalkers after MvC3 is finished, I'd think it's a wise idea to introduce her to audiences.
At least I was made as happy as a pig covered in mud by her announcement. Not as happy as if Jedah or Zabel were making the cut, but pleased none the less.

I guarantee you that many scrubs won't even pay attention to everyone else due to them either being literally bad characters or due to them being broken in other games.

@ Teh Kaiser- I was thinking that too, but if you count Storm and C. Viper, and Galactus as a boss, then this actually makes nine more characters since Niitsuma-san made his "about ten more characters" comment.

Gross, sentinel? Really? So we get the 3 most overused practically broken characters from marvel vs capcom 2 (Sentinel, Storm, and Magneto). I hope this isn't true. It pisses me off how many characters they re used from mvc2, and just previous capcom fighting games in general. I really wish there were a much higher percentage of characters that haven't appeared in any capcom fighting game in the past.
