Yet more fuel for the PSP2 rumor fire is yours today, with another graphical boast for the as-yet-unannounced system. According to the latest gossip, PSP2 games will look so good, they'll rival early PS3 games for visual impressiveness.
"As far as graphics are concerned, the PSP2 is a beast, packing enough processing hardware to produce graphics comparable to early PlayStation 3 titles," says IGN, via a mysterious source. "The processor, we're told, is just over half as powerful as the PS3, though the specific framework of the cores and the clock speed was not revealed.
"While the device isn't as powerful as the PlayStation 3, its components should allow it to sufficiently play games of comparable graphical quality due to the fact that it is rendering to a smaller, lower-resolution display than a full 1080p HDTV."
So yeah, I think we've all gotten by now that the PSP2 is going to have some good looking games. All that's left is for Sony to get off its arse and announce the bloody thing.

...
lawl I'm joking not trying to start any wars here again.
No thanks.
If you think the PSP2 is going to cost under $300 regardless of what the system specs are then you are crazy.
PSPgo anyone?
People will take on a second job to get one!
In other words, PS2 titles.
too bad I can't see this thing having a long battery life... surprise me sony!
That would be a technological step forward.
I kid. (But really.)
OK, that makes sense.
it will be priced as much as a new iphone i bet.
And thats just visuals, thats not even counting sound and everything else involved with a good game. This PSP2 is either going to have to-expensive-for-a-handheld games or its going to be extremely expensive itself because its cost is going to be weighed down by tons of flash memory -which all depends on the route their taking to bring us the games.
So honestly I don't think this rumor has any merit. Maybe mid to late PS2 quality games, but not early PS3.
I know they're going to nail the graphical and hardware stuff most likely, and that's nice and all, but the thing I'm really more anxious about is whether they'll find some way to hold off even a fraction of the incredible piracy on the system compared to the original, without overly inconveniencing legitimate users. That's really the only way we'll see a consistent stream of good games made and/or localized for it.
As for whether it ends up download only... that's been the main model for so long on PC now with steam and other services, it still amazes me somewhat how much people cling to their boxes and plastic. I like collecting things too, but at a certain point in life you tend to realize that you really don't need more space-consuming stuff in order to make a project legitimate.
Meh, I haven't thought about it. :)
The PSP has fantastic graphics Birth by Sleep and Ghost of Sparta look as good as PS2 games, but only a few great games have been made for the system, because developers ignored it and made ps2 games instead
Most developers will ignore it and make PS3/360 games instead unless the new psp does something the PS3 can't do like touchscreen and stuff like that
Best. Handheld. Ever.

Anyway, Im curious to see what will come of the PSP2 hopefully its awesome, if it is, Ill buy it.
3DS supposedly had these kind of graphics too, right?
I mean fuck. Moore's law fucks us all over, but can't Sony just make us not suck their asian cocks any more?
