Rumor: PS3 Slim? Already? photo

Yeah, I don't know either. But at least T3 gives us something really interesting to look at while we imagine it.

According to Gizmodo, an insider at T3 says that Sony is working on a slim and trim PS3 revamp for a Fall release. Of course, none of this is confirmed, but I can say that their mockup looks amazing. Maybe the rumored 160 and 120GB models we mentioned earlier will sport a new, slim profile. Maybe not.

The current PS3 is like a plus-sized girl that's attractive. She's obsessed with her appearance, but she could stand to shed a few pounds. If that does happen, the Xbox 360 will look awkward alongside the new PS3 and the Wii.

The reworking of all Sony consoles comes in time, but it seems a bit early for a PS3 reworking. All I know is that I've totally lost count of PS3 SKUs already.

For those still on the fence, would a slimmer PS3 win you over? Would a $300 slimmer PS3 win you over?

Wow sony really cant fucking stick with any kind of game plan for this generation can they?Yeah here's a bit of uneducated advice sony, you already have the hardware so you should probably focus on locking down some quality software instead of worrying about the size or price of the ps3.Trust me if sony gets some software then the inflated price of the ps3 will sting a bit less. And stop trying to copy nintendo, just let them have thier fun for the next year or so until people realize its an underpowered childrens console with software that is the current generation equivilant of the atari 2600.Minus activision.

A $300 slimmer PS3 with BC would win me over.

Well, I had the launch-era PS2, and mine still works just fine. The two big things that slim PS2s could do but original PS2s couldn’t was connect to the internet (built-in Ethernet port) and play movies in progressive-scan (launch-era PS2s couldn’t do that, but later “fatty” models could). I mean, obviously I wouldn’t buy another PS3 just because it was more small and more sexy, but if they dropped the price even to $349, I’m sure it would look even more attractive.

That Picture just looks like a Wii with a PS3 Top added onto it.

But, If it was to come out this year or next year, I would probably buy it, because I am very space-challenged atm.

We need the slim noir, the white slim, the blue slim, the pink slim and the orange slim each in 20/40/60/80/120 gig versions before I will buy one.......

I call bs way to early. And i really dont care anyway, having a external power brick would kill it for me. I dont care really for aesthetics anyway i remember i got a ps2 slim. But it was because my fat one could not read god of war. So unless my 60gb original dies on me i dont really care.

Changing the style isn't fair for those of us who already have a PS3... damn Sony...

If its 300, sure. Still will probably end up just playing my 360 though. I call BS on this though.

One thing I don't get is hatred on power bricks. You either have a brick, or a heavy as shit system. It doesn't really make a difference because it all goes into the entertainment system or behind the cabinet anyway. Are you people living in 500 sq ft studio apartments where every inch is sacred or are you just spoiled whiners who bitch about every little thing?

I don't like the mockup, it looks like a wii with a PS3 cover slammed on its side...

But such a small console would most likely come with an insanely huge power brick...

Yes.

Even if the power cord is ginormous... I'm OK with that. I can HIDE that. But this beauty... I'll put up front.

One more thing... maybe a DIFFERENT FONT for the PS3 text? That's be tits.

I have no doubt that this is fake.
Only problem is that it's not very well thought out.
Look at the size of the disc tray on there, look at the space left over.
Where would a hard drive go? The only hard drives small enough to fit on the space left over are the ones in mp3 players, and (last time I checked) those were about 4bucks to a gig.

Unless it goes behind the dvd drive, which means that the system would have to be deeper than it is wide. That plus the RV canopy hanging off the side would make for one ugly fucking system.

Hideous system + controller that's barely been upgraded in 12 years (not to mention the horrendous joysticks) = I MIGHT pay $100 for it if it had really really awesome games that didn't use the joysticks much.

Cheaper, yes, slim, i don't care, i don't buy consoles to look at them, I buy them for the games, and the ps3 still has too small a library and an inferior online service for me to be interested

^^^You obviously havent played the games that make the PS3 completely worthwhile. Sure it doesnt have a 360 size library but that by no means makes it small. Uncharted, Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank,UT3, RFOM, etc alone make the console worth it and thats just talking exclusives.

But as for a PS3 slim. Not happening. Its way too early in its life for that. Maybe a few years down the road, maybe....

There is no way that this is gonna happen this year. It's way to soon for a slim model --- or any new model, for that matter --- to be released just yet. If they did it this soon, I think it'd be more expensive, if anything.

That T3 mock-up is laughably poor. To say nothing of the internals, how do you get the disc in when the system is horizontal?

I don't know. But what I think is that the 360 and ps3 should just stay big. They look coller, hold more stuff and gives you more opions for gaming features. What do you think?

There is that new Blu-Ray drive that is supposed to be able to fit in a laptop. So a slim PS3 is not out of the question
