If you thought the Wii was a silly name, what do you think of the rumored moniker for Project Cafe? The latest industry mutterings suggest that Nintendo's HD console will be called Nintendo FEEL, with a name that seems to nod toward the rumored touch-screen controller.
According to the newest reports, FEEL will actually be able to simulate textures on the controller using haptic technology. Nintendo's goal is to create a console perfectly balanced for both casual and hardcore players, with a console as intuitive as the Wii with the kind of games "core" players are used to.
As always, this is not confirmed. It's looking like E3 will reveal all, though!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
As for the name, isn't it a bit generic to be trademarked and whatnot? It's a stupid name anyway...
That's pretty sophisticated meta-humor Nintendo's got there, isn't it?
/frampton'd
just... pick a different name please. Are they trying to make their console names subjective to jokes or something?
"Haptic technology, or haptics, is a tactile feedback technology that takes advantage of a user's sense of touch by applying forces, vibrations, and/or motions to the user.[1] This mechanical stimulation may be used to assist in the creation of virtual objects (objects existing only in a computer simulation), for control of such virtual objects, and for the enhancement of the remote control of machines and devices (teleoperators). It has been described as "(doing) for the sense of touch what computer graphics does for vision".[2] Although haptic devices are capable of measuring bulk or reactive forces that are applied by the user, it should not be confused with touch or tactile sensors that measure the pressure or force exerted by the user to the interface."
I'm still confused, but I'm intrigued.
Now, I've read some serious bullshit in my life, but man.
With haptic technology!
Also: If they really name the new system something stupid, I am just going to refer to it as the Nintendo Entertainment System and call it a day. FTW
Why can't you just not include a gimmick, Nintendo? What happened?
To be honest, as long as it has some awesome first and third party games, preferably with a new Nintendo IP somewhere in amongst those games, then I couldn't care less what it's called.
Honestly I would've preferred Stream, which isn't a great name either.
Not interested in this new feautre at all.
And of course the party game spin off, Wii Feel Mii.
and dont forget about FEEL motion +
