All this news about the anti piricy- used game tech going into the new xbox and playstation.l, is making the Wii U even more attractive.
Having DRM is shooting yourself on the foot. If the next Xbox system has it and the next Playstation doesn't. What do you think that person with no constant internet is going to pick? This is just as stupid as the no used games rumors.
Console versions of Steam. Per each (MS, Sony, Nintendo)box, whatever. Unless of course Steam makes a standard PCbutItsAConsole unit.
Its like Microsoft and Sony are sitting around, thinking of things that piss people off to put in their consoles. Then just use things that PC gaming has fucked people over with previously (always-on DRM, no used games) and said "That would work!"
As much as i hate DRM thats not the thing that would stop me from getting it...But built in Kinect as in It wouldnt be a seperate camera I assume? That be impossible to use for me cause I am not about to buy new furniture just to place a console so its camera could see me...
Always connected DRM will truly suck for people like my bro who do not have high speed internet. It is not available in his area. He is a huge Xbox 360 fan, and has like 50 games... They will essentially be telling him that he is no longer wanted as a customer. How stupid.

It will be nice when they actually announce the box, and all these rumors can be put to bed, for better or ill. Instead Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo to a lesser extent is letting Internet rabble dictate their messaging.
I dunno, doesn't seem any more or less premature/stupid than the PC version of From Dust's 'always on' online DRM, that Ubisoft implemented.

The fact that it will have a blu-ray is also confusing me.. With a forced always connected requirement they know that their users must have high speed internet.
Knowing this, why include a blu-ray option at all with HD streamimg getting better every day. It almost seems like blu-ray will be the fastest high end to obsolete product ever created. I guess Blu-ray would make sense with some games and extra content or something.

So either the 720 has either a single 6670 or two GPU's in the 7000 series (which are not crossfired or SLI'd for no raisin)? That's quite a big disparity, and I highly doubt either rumor. Not only that, but the comparison "two PC's duct taped together" will tell you absolutely nothing.

The contradiction between this new Blu-ray suggestion and the other week's all-digital one is a great example of why all of these rumours should be treated as complete bullshit until officially confirmed.
I don't believe these recent rumors at all, but if they are actually true, then I have no problems sticking only with PC gaming and maybe with the WiiU if Nintendo don't employ this kind of bullshit. You hear that, Microsoft/Sony?

The most logical way to implement it would be something similar to the Wii's infrared sensor - as in not literally 'built in' but just something else that comes with it standard. Then again, I imagine logic would be in short supply if any of these rumored anti-piracy/used 'features' wind up becoming truth.

well I just lost my internet for over a week. Are you telling me I'd have also lost access to hundreds of dollars worth of content simply because at&t fucked up. This is really making me not want to get any of the next gen systems. Oh well I've got plenty of backlog to keep me satisfied for a long time. Heck i've been using my wii as a gamecube so I could play baten kaitos. Man that game is awesome.
My theory is that Sony and Microsoft are spreading those "Draconian DRM" rumors, so that when they do release their consoles, the DRM included on them (which won't be as bad) will sound like a relief. So we'll be all relieved that we are being fucked yet again.

Because with the undoubtedly higher resolutions of these new games DVD9 or what ever form of it they used won't cut it. I actually got annoyed with MAss Effect 3 and wished I had got is for PS3 version instead (but all my saves were Xbox) because I had to swap discs more times that I recall with ME2. When there's a solution available that would solve that, why not include it? And while HD streaming is improving an HD stream and blu-ray are not equal. I don't believe it, if microsoft goes this far there will be riots. Honestly I think then all we would have left is pc gaming.
Isn't almost 100% of console piracy done on consoles that were modded by outside sources? As in, whatever companies do to install hardware that causes this shit completely useless?
I can't wait for this box of DRM! This is great! I hope handhelds go in this direction, too. And to help the poor devs, we should start paying a monthly subscription of like $4.99 to help publishers combat DRM.
I doubt it. MS has effective DRM now and it's a fairly straight forward association with your gamertag.

AT&T screwed up my internet so I am without home internet access until they send us a new modem. I went to copy some PICTURES to my vita. It would not let me do it because I wasn't on the internet. That fucking retarded. I had to go someplace else and download something called opencma just so I could transfer content to my vita.

Well, I hope they are actually using these "leaks" to vet consumer attitudes toward the idea of anti-secondhand consoles, because I can promise you, it won't matter if Sony or Microsoft produce a 4D console that runs Crysis during loading screens, I will not buy it.

Had you tried to move content between your vita and pc before that? It had nothing to do with your internet connection. The Vita always requires Content Manager to transfer things. I don't know why, but it's always been like that.

Sucks because I had FF4 sitting on my ps3 but had no way to transfer it over. I had a psp go during the psn outage so I knew what to expect with the ps3 but didn't expect that i'd need sony's permission to copy over some wallpaper to my vita.

although I highly doubt any of this, if Microsoft is actually going through with this DRM bullshit and Sony preventing used games, I'll just build a gaming PC and buy a Wii U instead. easy as that.

I know some Capcom games on PS3 already utilize always-on DRM, so this rumor is actually fairly plausible. Thankfully, I'm not getting Microsoft's next console, but I don't like where this trend is heading.

I've barely put it down since I bought it at launch. Played through Uncharted, Wipeout and Escape Plan (so very underrated, absolutely wonderful game). Since those were the only Vita launch titles I was interested in, I started picking up PSP games I'd missed. I played through Final Fantasy 4 Complete Collection and I'm working on Persona 3 now.
Gotta say, I'm not sold on Persona 3 yet, but I'm gonna stick with it since so many of my fellow Dtoiders recommended it so highly. We'll see. Anyway, adore the Vita. Such a sexy little piece of tech. Then again, you need to understand that I tend to give into tech lust pretty easily, so I dunno how objective a recommendation I can possibly give.
