If you really care about the performance of your gaming machine, you can start saving your money now and buy a PC next year that will blow the next consoles out of the water.
I don't give a shit about graphics or "specs" or whatever techno porn gets y'all off, I just want load times to disappear. I mean its 2012.
Horsepower doesn't really matter in the end. You can always make an Okami or Killzone that looks beautiful and takes advantage of the hardware, but more often than not, you get half-assed games rushed out the door with no hope of competing graphically, or games that simply don't rely on graphics to sell themselves.
The more important questions to me are things like what will Xbox live look like, what kind of backwards compatability will it have, will the disc drive be Blu-Ray, and will hard drives be standard/solid state.

Unimpressive specs if this turns out to be true, a low-end last generation gpu just feels off. At least they went with one of the better low-end gpu's but still meh. Maybe they want to keep a low price point for launch /shrug.
6670 huh... nice to know my PC is ahead of a console that is slated for 2013 if the rumors are true. I'll still probably get the new Xbox eventually though depending on the titles and how bad the PC ports to those titles would be. Unless of course Sony shows something more impressive, who knows these days.

If the WiiU really turns out to be roughly as powerful as the XBox720, this could actually result in a decent third party support for Nintendo...I believe it when I see it.

Also i agree with Kinthalis, that card just about runs game's a little better than current consoles. It just doesn't have the muscle to offer much better than what we have now. I guess if this it true we can look forward to more 30fps games with no vsync and AA.
I thought the Wii U was going to be about as good as the 360 so how can the "720" be 6 times more powerful than the 360 and yet still be 20% better than the Wii U? I always add salt and pepper to what I consume.
IIRC when the 360 and PS3 were being planned the GPUs were based on top end hardware that wasn't even on the market at the time. the tech available to PC gamers rendered those GPUs obsolete fairly quickly, but that's unavoidable.
i'm betting this isn't what's going to make the final product. both major consoles have done well this gen with what power they have through the benefits of efficient architecture design and a fixed hardware platform, but there are limits. with the state of modern GPUs i'm certain they can come up with better than this.

I think IGN just has an idiot for a source. And perhaps idiots for writers. A 6670-level part would be, at the very best, roughly twice the power of the R500 Xenos in the Xbox 360.
I think we can still expect a Southern Islands 7000-series modified GPU. Something like the 7750, perhaps.

Kotaku is reporting the rumor that the next xbox will have some sort of anti used games software. If this is true in any way, even as a xbox junkie, I will pass on the new system and become a Sony fanboy.
I feel Xbox has no right to exist unless they have more exclusives. Those indie games? Could easily go to Steam, some have after all. Any game on 360 these days are also on PC and PS3 so it is like... why have a 360? I suppose the whole, as what console are for, to be an inexpensive way to game rather than paying at least around $800 for a PC to play todays games you only need to pay around $200-300 for a 360.
Thing is though I just feel a 360 has lost its right to exist, aside from just making loads of money. Nintendo has all these exclusives and though I feel they are slowly burning, least they have these exclusives that gives them right to exist. PS3, same thing, all these exclusives that are not on PC or 360 at all, give them right to exist. 360 only has Halo and Gears left and that can easily go to PC and PS3 since it is only 2 series so... yeah.

Processing power means nothing without good ideas.
That goes for EVERY game company. Honestly, where technology is at for games right now is pretty darn good. We don't need to focus on improving the hardware so much as we do fix the flaws that are with the current setup, and apply new concepts to them.

I don't give a fuck about the graphics for this. I want a good list of games to go with it. I have a PC for graphics and I'll probably get a new desktop for the next generation of games.
doubt this rumor is true. my ancient by tech standards 4890 is significantly more powerful than a 6670. i'd truly hope that whatever the next gen brings it can offer a step up from the mid range gaming pc i built over a year ago. i'll be disappointed if they throw a $60-in-2011 gpu in their next gen system.
6670? Is that a joke? That's a super low-end mid-range graphics card at best. Not even close to "six times" the power of a 360. I don't understand the point of such a console, that's barely a relevant upgrade at all. I mean it sounds more like a new SKU of the 360 that can just play games at 1080 or something... oh god... we're going to have console games that run on multiple versions of a system now.
Something tells me the next Xbox will be built shabby too. I'm going to wait until it's been out a year before I make any decisions to buy. I'm on my 5th 360. I'm not going through all that pain again.

thats a pretty mediocre gpu even by todays standards for a PC and it will be 2 generations behind the technology when released.It might be better than what he current xbox has but its not earth shattering.
