Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Brazilian gaming blog Blogeek has apparently gotten big news on the upcoming Street Fighter IV game and they are more than happy to share it with the Internets. Check out the translated info below:

The graphics aren't the way they are in the teaser that everyone watched. The game's still pretty, but it has nothing of that ink-splashing or anything. Art direction is interesting. Unlike all the other 3D fighters, SFIV is not meant to be photo realistic.

Street Fighter IV runs at 60 frames per second.

Street Fighter IV will have online play.

The game takes place after Super Street Fighter II Turbo and before SFIII. The good news is that the character roster will be made of many old-school brawlers and some entirely new ones. There are two new girls on the list. We will probably not see any SFIII characters.

The stage you saw at 1Up, if you didn't figure out, is Chun-Li's Stage from SF2.

The excellent Parry system form SFIII is gone. The new system seems to be called Saving or Revenge (we're not sure about the name). We don't know exactly how it works, but it's built around cancels. And we do know we'll have another gauge to activate the Saving/Revenge stuff, besides the usual Super Gauge.

Supers are there (although they didn't decide yet if it will be like in SSF2T or SFIII), and now they've put another moves called Ultras. These makes your character throws a auto combo with tons of moves. It's like a custom combo ... except by the custom part.

Shen Long may appear in the game. We are NOT kidding.

The consoles are not decided yet, really. But, assuming that SFIV will have online play, we can obviously think of Xbox 360 and PS3 (duh). It's very likely that we'll see an arcade version without online mode too, and our sources told us that Capcom could put some test machines in Japan arcades in Q2 next year.

Of course, until we hear something from Capcom or pick up the next issue of EGM, we can't be too sure about this info. So why run with this then? Because Blogeek also provided us with two new screenshots from the game. Looks like a little old blog site got the exclusive before a major publication ... ouch. Of course, there's always that one percent chance that Blogeek has the worlds best Photoshop artist on their team ...

In any case, what do you all think about this latest info?

It doesn't look great, does it? I've been watching Tekken 6 in arcades and that's looking nicer than this. Can we have the 'ink splash' style from the trailer please?

Is that "Ultra" moved used during game play or are we talking the bad ass Ultra combos from Killer Instinct that you could only use at the end of their life?

Graphics suggest Wii rather than 360/PS3.

Why couldn't the arcade machine have online play? The latest Virtua Fighter ones do.

I had no idea there was even a timeline of Street fighter events. I feel like they ought to include whichever characters would make the gameplay good. Street Fighter isn't an epic RPG or anything, it's an arcade fighting game.

So since it runs at 60 fps that means we can exspect to see it run at 30fps on the that big bad ass powered ps3?

I really just want to see this game in motion. No matter what details they give I need to see it before making judgement.

Something in the graphics tells me the game will look fantastic when in motion.

I'm loving the facial expressions, especially the one where Ken is jumping over the hadouken.

Well I guess that is why there is SSFIITHDR.
I am sure it will look hell of a lot better when finished and some AA is applied, but I just really don't see this as a good thing.

At first I HATED the way Ryu looked, but now he's growing on me (no dongs jokes please) - but now that I see KEN (the guy I play with) - I am having second thoughts... here's hoping that after enjoying further details I will warm up to him and the rest of the roster.

ALSO: What's with the 3/4 vantage point, I thought this was going to play in 2D - show us ACTUAL screens with health bars, etc!!! C'monnnnnnnnnnn!!!

alpha, sf2, sf4, sf3 (in that order).

hmm, i still don't know where the first street fighter belongs. before or after alpha?

anyhoo, NO PARRY SYSTEM!?!? WHAT?!

and im thinking that saving/revenge system is going to act like k-groove in cvs2...or not (who knows).

Mmm, I've got some curious optimism about this game.

It will probably look much better in motion, no doubt.

But its SF...I suck, and I will never, ever be good, no matter how much I like it or try...so in the end, I do not care :(
Rosseh's Avatar
Rosseh at 12/06/2007 17:58
If there's no parry and its set before SF3 then that's a huge kick in the balls. At the end of SF3 Ryu goes off to train with Oro so he would have probably learnt some awesome new techniques.

The timeline for Alpha is pretty sketchy. The alphas are supposed to take place before SF and SF2 but in Alpha 2 charlie dies but in alpha 3 charlie is alive. They don't really explain how that works.

I think the other screen (left thumbnail) looks cool as hell, to be honest! Just need to see it in motion and in the end it'll all boil down to how fun it plays, not going to judge that before trying no matter how much "info" is released.

I’m still holding judgment until I see video. And I guess I was right in guessing that it’ll be like the 3D fighters we’re used to (DOA, Tekken, etc.) — you can move around in 3D space, but you start out in 2D at opposite ends of the screen.

I like the way it looks, and I'm pretty sure in motion it should look fine. Though shit can always take a turn for the worst.
