Rumor: New EA Sports game is NBA Jam photo

Even though EA Sports has remained mum about its mysterious IP set to be revealed this month, inside sources have been talking. Last month, our source said the new game is being called “NFL Trainer,” a Wii exclusive that teaches how to throw a football. But ESPN’s source is saying something much different: they’re being led to believe an NBA Jam resurrection is happening.

According to ESPN’s sources, this NBA Jam title will be a Wii-exclusive retail game built by some of the hands that forged the original Midway series -- specifically, series creator Mark Turmell, who has allegedly been working on the game in Vancouver.

So what game is it? Now we’re pretty sure it’s a mix of both games. Think about it.

Licensing nightmares aside, I wish they'd just put the original game (or TE) out on XBLA/PSN.

My God, I'd get this immediately.

I can't wait for all the regulars to come in here and complain that it's a Wii game. Fun to be had all around.

EA already did NBA Street, so I'd like to see what they'll do for NBA Jam.

I was just thinking yesterday how stale the arcade sports genre has been this gen. Here's hoping this gets off the ground.

It certainly sounds better than NFL Trainer.

I was never a fan of basketball, but I played NBA Jam until my fingers were raw. Bring this back, please.

Whatever they do with this, I hope they keep the cheat where you can dunk from the other side of the court.

YES.

But wait, it's on the Wii? Normally, this would suck, except that I have a Wii now. Kidding aside, this makes me very excited, I loved NBA Jam.

Only took them 3 console generations to realize that this is a good idea.

I hope they ignore the motion controls completely and make it play exactly like the original. Too much waggle will kill NBA Jam.

Samit's a funny bastasrd, but I really think they should go for that crappy retro look. At least a little.
I was so disappointed by that one that Tecmo came out with recently, and I would be happy to see another Jam game. As long as Marv Albert is involved.

Wooooo! He's on fire! In all seriousness tho, I played this on SNES about a year ago...and wow...did it NOT age well. Hopefully a brand new take will freshen it up a bit!

Wii exclusive?!
No, no, no! I wanted it to be a high-def remake of NBA Jam. That would have been awesome.
