The "quasi-logical" step for an existing game is going to be either an extended/game of the year edition of MGS4 (with trophy support and playable Raiden) or an MGS HD Collection.

The other could be basically anything.

The key in that quote is "existing game." Hell, maybe it's MGS Peace Walker for PS3.

I don't know what either will be, but it will probably be awesome. Kojima said at the ngp reveal that he was going to show a ngp title with the ability to connect with the ps3 in some way.

Complete remake of Peace Walker for the PS3, and call it MGS 5. Would make some sense to me since he wanted on a game that could be played on consoles and handhelds, and then there was that Konami survey.

MGS "6", possibly featuring The Boss as the main character.

Kojima really lost his appeal to me after Peace Walker. He's trying to hard to be "Kojima". Ever since 3 his games have lost their appeal.

I WANT it to be MGS5 on PS3 and a PS3 port of Peace Walker. ZoE3, Snatcher would be nice at all, but given the choice, I'd go with MGS...

But I think it will be MGS HD collection and another goddamn handheld MGS, for the NGP, targetted at the JP MHP crowd. God dammit.

I love Metal Gear but it'll take a lot to sell me on the idea that an MGS5 is necessary. As far as I'm concerned, the series is over and doesn't need to be touched upon any further. Its bizzare - I don't think I feel this way about any other game series - but to me, a perfect story has been told and I think Kojima should use his resources to explore some other themes in another world, rather than continue to re-hash what's already popular.

But all in all, calling non PS3/360 owners ignorant fucks is stupid of you. PC gamers and Wii gamers all think you're an ignorant. Remmeber this: Metal Gear has orginally been on NES, and Kojima Prod. Has made a game on 360. Its pretty realistic to see MGS collection (+4) release on eggsbawks.

Does this have to be something even closely related to what Kojima-san has done in the past? Didn't Konami have Kojima-san announce Castlevania at E3? This could very well be a new IP, or something unexpected with Hideo's name slapped on to garner hype.

Honestly, I'm really excited for MGS: Rising considering it's not written by Kojima. I would love to see a fully HD remake (new engine, everything) of MG or MGS titles, but I'd be excited to see Zone of Enders 3!

This is great news! I'd bet my money on Zone of the Enders 3 or the new Snatcher (formerly known as Project S) as the "quasi-logical step for an existing game". As for the other game... who knows? Kojima is always coming up with crazy, but awesome games.

Yeah, I think the whole decade-long narrative was wrapped up pretty nicely in MGS4, and I don't feel the need to visit anything that Old Snake is doing after his meeting in the cemetery. I think Raiden is a great character, and yet to be honest, I really don't care about Rising in the slightest either. For some reason it hasn't really made itself apparent on my radar yet, despite an impressive trailer last year. In fact the only bit of Metal Gear I'm really looking forward to is Snake Eater 3D, because to me the third installment is a perfect videogame - I even have a copy of Subsistance signed by Kojima himself - and I can't wait to play it again, albeit in a very slightly different form.

I think my main beef on this topic is with the gaming industry itself. I hate to be the guy who compares games to the movie industry, but I'd much rather be looking forward to "the new game by Hideo Kojima" like I'd look forward to the next Tarantino flick or something, rather than "the next Metal Gear Solid game." It's kinda sad how most of the big games I'm looking forward to this year are sequels, and the only original one off the top of my head is Last Guardian. Some series have been going on for decades; even Hollywood doesn't rehash its ideas that frequently. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd like to see these talented directors do something different once in a while.

Also excuse me if this post makes little sense in places; its almost 2am here and I'm not entirely sure what I've just been typing.

Are you dumb? MGS 5 is called MGS: Rising, and it's been announced. Kojima would not announce something already announced, and would not be working on two different MGSes at the same time.
