The Bild, Europe's best-selling tabloid newspaper, is reporting that they know the release date for Nintendo's 3DS handheld system. According to their edition published Sunday, the 3DS will launch in Japan on November 11th, 2010. The paper goes on to suggest the device will "probably" appear in Europe sometime in the first quarter of 2011.
Nintendo is expected to make their formal announcement regarding the 3DS release later this week, so we'll know sooner rather than later whether Bild really has the goods here. No information on a North American release was printed, but it's probably safe to assume that it would be arriving there around the same time as the European release (assuming, of course, that the paper has that bit right).
Bild has also listed a price: €200. That's about $270 in US currency, which is quite a jump from where Nintendo has traditionally priced their handhelds at launch. Time to start scraping together your pennies, folks.

Not 270$!!!!111!1!1
honestly I don't want to pay more than 200 for a handheld. But if nintendo is gonna be bustin balls then I'll have to take it.
yeah, this is how they fill their so called paper usually ;)
anyways, I would pay a fortune to play the Zelda: OoT remake this christmas. cause since 1998 christmas-time is Zelda-time for me !
I hope it's not 200 pounds. But it probably will be. I wouldn't pay that much for any kind of ds, but I would for a psp2.
You can say that's not too bad, considering the fact the 3DS will probably cost around U$ 1000 when it first get imported to Brazil, so I'll be getting my 3DS in two or three years up then it will be less expensive, I hope. Sad, but true.
We do this at work, we sell in Sterling, Euro and Dollars, and the prices are a long way off of the converted rate. All products are "priced for market", meaning priced for the amount people will buy them for.
It's a cunt move really, but in our case, we should be based on the dollar price (American Company) but we actually lose out on the exchange rate when selling in the UK simply because the market demands a certain price.
This is the same as Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft all do, it's just that they NEVER lose out on the currency. (Well, Sony may have in the ealry PS3 days)
If only people would stop buying products at nearly 2x the converted US price, then the market would change and a lower price would be demanded.
But, people want these gadgets, and people will pay for these gadgets, which keeps the prices inflated.
It's a bummer, but it's our own fault. if only a significant amount of us could do without the latest consoles/games/technology on day 1, and would wait until prices came down.
i'm as much to blame as anyone else, cannot believe i paid nearly £400 for my PS3. worth every penny, but hurts now i see them for £250.
Heh, I'm the total opposite. I'd pay that for a 3DS but not for a PSP2.
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to getting a PSP2 at some point too, but only after a couple of price cuts unless they can surprise me right out of the gate.
I paid £300 for my original import DS in Dec '04. Seen it sitting in a shop and was a total impulse buy since after losing a job without notice (paid in lieu) and getting a new job in a day, I had 2 paycheques so was feeling pretty flush. Well, I say "my" DS, but it was for my gf at the time. I inherited it after she bought a Pink DS though.
What makes you think you could get somthing better for a cheaper price? Nintendo deserve my money, they have been good recently with all these great titles coming out for the Wii such as DKC, Kirby, yadda yadda..... if anything, they will release titles for the 3DS that are just as sweet. Even though some pretty sweet titles have been announced for the handheld already, yano.
Stupid buyers remorse.
i doubt that the console will be 270 dollar.
Us Europeans and Brits get slightly screwed on price and quote sales tax (VAT) in all prices.
I'm still saying $225.
It's partially about how it Sounds too. Hey it's 270 dollars! Hey- it's only 200 Euros!
That's just how stupid they are. So for all you care, you can ignore these "news."
That said, I'll also pay too much for the 3DS, because unlike the lot of you cheapskate haters, I bought both handhelds (2 DS's and 2 PSP's), although I barely play my DS unfortunately. The 3DS lineup does look decent so hopefully it will hold my attention while I wait and see what the PSP2 will do.
I don't speak for everyone, but you realize that a lot of people take into account more factors than just price, right? I haven't followed the 3DS news too closely but I know for a fact that there were many reasons not to purchase a PSP at its original full price.
That would mean 200€ respectively 200$ for a 3D handheld - seems fair to me...
nope their articles usually don't turn out to be true... and most of their 'exclusive' news aren't exclusive... or news... or accurate...
