I think its a good idea. I put faith on Gearbox work and hope they start this game from scrap, not picking up some unfinished work.
So news about Fable 4 and Gearbox making a new Duke game, and what interests you is manboob and cock?
Well damn I better change my mind then, if GAIA says I'm wrong!
"The Duke Nukem Forever engine given to us sucked, so now that we're done with that game we're making a completely new engine from scratch so we can actually make a good game this time around."
"
Not exactly Gearbox's style...
Anyway, it's Aliens that I'm looking forward.
WTF?! Duke's balls changed during a page refresh! Blimey! Careful, you'll end up like Rushdie....
@Spaz
Haha Gaia, what a terrible place. Though I do have to disagree with AlLeBlanc, it isn't a game. It's more like the demon spawn between a bad forum and a game that despite being more of a forum it tries too hard to be a game.
The world doesn't need another Gears of War clone. And I seriously doubt the game is going to be released this Xmas. Think before you troll. Or be 12 years old.
Also, dat header...
Gaia? As in, Gaiaonline? I...uh...I sincerely hope you're trolling. There is no reason why anyone should ever take the opinion of a Gaia thread seriously anymore. I was hoping to erase my memory of that horrid place existing, but now all I can see in my head is a Chatterbox forum full of slave threads. Thanks. I'm gonna go kill myself now.
If there is a new Duke game it should be third person. When you're playing an FPS the character is usually just a soldier or something generic and bland.
If you look at Uncharted, it wouldn't of been successful as an FPS because of Drake's character, very over the top. Duke is a very outrageous character as well but you don't get behind it so much in an FPS. Third Person is the way to go I would think.
TLDR: Blame Anthony Burch.
What I care about is some well constructed, fun shooting(as opposed to rc car racing, two-weapon capacity, hiding instead of charging towards the health, long boring set piece encounters, and lots of turrets) and non-bizarro graphics (the kind where you don't have shiny/reflective highlights defining a surface on a painted wall IN A DARK ROOM...The lighting was AWFUL!) neither of which Duke Nukem Forever ever even came close to providing.
I don't care who is offended or why. I don't much care about the "suitability" of the tone. Screw that. If I can sit through 'True Blood','Dexter', or a tacky mess of porn-lite, titty a go-go, '300' clone, and biting pro-sports commentary like 'Spartacus: Gods of the Arena' masquerading as historical fiction then the 'not satirical enough to forgive' tone of Duke Nukem Forever is not really the big problem people try to turn it into.
The problem is there just isn't much game there. It's like a hot dog without that critical 50% meat to sell the cereal filler.
I just hope that Gearbox can make a Duke game that isn't a tiresome misguided incoherent cluster-fuck of ideas that don't fit together OR entertain much.
And I think Jim's being quite like the anti-game media blowhards he likes to lambast whenever he whines about Duke Forever's unsatire. Using a public platform to voice a half-baked opinion? Check. Over and over again? Check. Trumping said opinion as somehow noble? Check.
Wasn't Borderlands exactly that, though?
Not that it wasn't a mediocre game, of course.
