Visari's daughter will pick up where her father left off, only with much more suave than brute force. She will be the kind of real swarmy charismatic leader her father only imagined he was. A cleaner, but more effective leader.
The game will take place on a yet unnamed third planet, possibly because it is rich in resources both sides need desperately. This planet is rumored to be one of extremes, and will require both sides to don new protective suits to keep from falling victim to the elements. Also, there seems to be a possibility that there will be an indigenous lifeform on this planet that both sides will have to contend with, and could be the key to victory.
Lastly, it seems that there will be an all new shooting mechanic. Because of the high gravity of this new planet, the guns will now be heavier than the soldiers themselves. This means that you will only be able to run or turn, but only at the same time when there are no guns in your hands. Before shooting, all players will be required to construct a tripod via minigame, and may not shoot and move the gun at the same time because of the immense gravitational forces on this exciting new locale!
This will add a depth never before seen in the genre, and allow for one handed play so that you can use the other to slam nachos, pound some Sierra Mist, or write out well worded diatribes on game realism on GameFaqs.
Exciting shit, if you ask me. I can't wait.
I want to like the series, but it feels like they try incredibly hard to make people not like it.
Sadly, Guerrilla's idea of support for a game means A) Patch to fix the bugs in the game, B) ignore the fact that the opening cinematic audio is a half a second behind the video, C) fail to deliver any DLC that is substantive, despite the fans' repeated, and strenuous overtures that they'd happily pay for more Operations maps.
If Guerrilla can convince me that they finally understand the concept of supporting a $60 game in today's saturated FPS market, then I'll likely buy this brand new, day one.
Honestly, I'm praying for that, because Killzone 2 and 3 are the best FPSes ever.
So, either Guerrilla split up into two teams and this is still a KZ game from them on the PS3, or this is a Vita title and I'd imagine it's from a different studio. Yeah, I know Liberation was still from Guerrilla but outsourcing portable version of major exclusive IPs seems to be the norm these days.
Betting it's a Vita title.
Probably not. Even if one of the classes was female, there is a small number of men who just couldn't handle it and would loudly complain.
(and I hope they bring back the server browser because I really don't like matchmaking!)
No one ever complained about being able to choose a girl in Uncharted, Arkham City, Metal Gear Online, etc. Gamers have welcomed female characters in these games. Why wouldn't they in KZ?
a) I couldn't shoot a woman (great... an easy kill for me then! I'm pretty sure after getting killed by all the female avatars in the game, they would lose that sense of chivalry pretty quick).
b) Women never fought on the front lines in war (apparently these guys don't know their history... women have and continue to fight on the front lines... with actual guns... pew, pew, pew. Also... it's a video game! There really isn't a current Helghast invasion!)
c) Nobody wants to use a female avatar (most women prefer it and a sizable number of men also enjoy using a female avatar for a change of pace).
The thing with Killzone is because it's class based, they would likely have to make one class female and while most guys don't care if there are female avatars on the battlefield, being forced to be a female to play a specific class might be enough to rile them up. :(
... personally I always imagine that the sniper class is female anyway! :)
"(and I hope they bring back the server browser because I really don't like matchmaking!)"
YES. KZ2 had a fantastic setup for MP, which went backward in KZ3. Use KZ2's MP as a base, add the brutal melee kills from KZ3 and we'll have a winner.
it's not like those games are good or are making money for sony(given their enormous budgets and pitiful sales). hell, Guerilla first have to learn what it means to deliver 60$ retail game cause non of their games so far were worth the money they want people to pay for Killzone's - especially the last one. 5 hour campaign with no storyline what-so-fuckin-ever(no, "Rico, you fought in the snow so now go to the jungle" between levels is not a storyline to me) and multiplayer that makes downloadable titles like Blacklight feel like 100$ products DOES NOT WORTH 60$ - unless you're sony fanboy.
and i can't wait for sony fans yet again saying:
"it's teh best game EVAR cause it's exclusive. and it's cool because it has different controls - it doesn't matter that those controls suck donkey balls and make those games unplayable, but they're cool cause they're different"
i don't know why i imagine sony fanboys as tiny and drunk greeks giving two thumbs up while saying that their economy is awesome, but it works.
@OneRed, wanna bet that if Guerilla really used that mechanic sony fanboys would call it the best shooter ever?
Most of that can be applied to Gears as well. Both are great games, but you wouldn't know that because you haven't played Killzone 3, or any other PS3-exclusive you constantly rip on without playing
