According to the latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, gamers should expect a follow up to Sucker Punch's inFamous this year.
The magazine says that inFamous 2 will take place "a significant time after the first game, offering a reshaped metropolis." The sequel hasn't been officially announced yet, and for their part, Sony has issued the typical "we do not comment on rumor or speculation."
This isn't the first time we've heard sequel rumors. There were rumblings last year of voice casting auditions taking place for the title, with the game's lead even being recast.
While I rank inFamous among my favorite game experiences of 2009, that was just last year. I suppose with the tech in the can it would be possible to push out a game so soon. But I'll admit I could do with a little cooling off before being thrust into the world again. Still, if Sony announces the game at E3 this year, consider me officially excited.

No different gameplay style. Just a more/less pissed off main character. :/
However, I am not sure I want a sequel so soon, if its just more of the same. The first one was an pleasant surprise for me, and I expect the second one to try to add some new things to top it.
That said, InFamous came out early 2009, if it releases late 2010 it's been almost 2 years. That doesn't look too unlikely, it's not like they start from scratch, I think they had a clear idea what they were supposed to do in the sequel.
So yeah, give me more InFamous!

Anyway, the first one was pretty damn good, so I'll probably at least rent it.

I had a lot of fun in Prototype running around town destroying shit and turning crowds of civilians into a bloody mess, but I think that Infamous was, on the whole, a more satisfying game (even though the so-called moral choices in the game were contrived and poorly-executed).
I only finished it to try and justify the price.
And in a year, especially redesigning the map, there's...not a whole heck of a lot of changes they can roll out. Which is why it coming out this year would inevitably be a disappointment.

I thought I was the only person who used the terms electic shotgun and electric sniper rifle, in regards to Infamous.
Don't forget about the electric rocket launcher and electric Covenant plasma grenades.
