While in Paris to attend a concert performed by Masashi Hamauzu, the current composer of the Final Fantasy series, Mistwalker president Hironobu "The Gooch" Sakaguchi mentioned that the Wii action RPG The Last Story would definitely arrive in Europe. This info jives well with an earlier rumor from a Nintendo rep in London.
If legit, this means Europe has both Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story to fulfill their Wii JRPG desires. It also means that the States is still getting stiffed hardcore by Nintendo. Did we offend you in some way?
Japan has all but given up on the Wii, and no one in Europe gives a flying fudge about software unless it says "Just Dance" somewhere on the box. The only major region that still somewhat supports the damn platform is the US, yet Japan and Europe are where the most exciting projects turn up.
Nintendo reminds me of that kid in school whose ego is so gargantuan that he can't stand it when someone doesn't like him unconditionally. He could be the most popular guy in school, but he won't pay you a lick of attention until you stop paying him any attention. He's trying to gain favor with those who don't want to hang with him while ignoring those who do.
Stop being that guy, Nintendo!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I love the header image by the way, haha.
Anywhoo, I sure hope they're going to announce The Last Story coming stateside at E3. Along with Xenoblade, Earth Seeker and Pandora's Tower. Nintendo would actually manage to top it's conference last year if they announced all of those.
For some reason I think it will be for the NGP...not sure why!
Makes sense.
That would make America the ass since our country is gone to shit.
Are there any Wii games that have seen European releases that haven't made it to the US?
Also, psyched about this! Living in the Netherlands myself, I can't wait for these games, especially Xenoblade. Would rather have Earth Seeker than The Last Story though, a bit more up my alley.
Anyways, good news, also for you US citizens: if they're gonna translate this game to English, Spanish, Italian, German, etc, they might as well release it stateside, right? ^^
Disaster: Day of Crisis and Another Code: R pop into my head. On the DS front, Euroland is getting Inazuma Eleven and Solatorobo, a soccer and furry RPG respectively.
Interesting though three of these games are Nintendo owned properties. It's not like the company never released a game in only Japan and the EU before.
Next time you play a game maybe you should champion the cause of those who won't get to play it as soon as you or who might never get to play it.
I don't really own any RPG's, but I am looking into them! They look so awesome! Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, and Resonance of Fate have my eye!

America gets shafted on some really weird choices from Japan. This one for example, then Hotel Dusk's sequel...I mean if I remember right the latter wasn't insanely popular but had quite a following in America over the European fan-base, yet there was zero release for its sequel...like I said, bizarre publisher policy now and then.
Anyway this is all rumor, let's get a solid confirmation via date or rating system.
Also, let's not forget this isn't that weird a situation. The US have the reputation of being a lot more interesting for publishers. There's some franchises (FIFA, The Settlers, etc.) that sell better in the EU, but apart from all that, the US have more impressive game sales, both relative and absolute.
So how to handle a situation like this? You tell the least interesting region without any fanfare whatsoever that "they'll get some games. Erm, yeah, Xeno something and The Last thingamajit". The US? You wait till the E3, give an impressive presentation about the Wii successor and then tell the audience that there's "a huge amount of great games coming your way! Xenoblade, The Last Story, Earth Seeker, you name it!!".
Seriously, there's no reason for US gamers to be concerned at this point.
Fucking ridicules man xD
Don't even get me started with Atlus games. They don't seem to realise Europe exists. European release of Catherine? Give it about eighteen months and a publisher might say, "Ehhh, it's possible."
Don't worry though, we have our copies of Just Dance to keep us going. Because apparently the casual consumer makes up for the entire gaming population of Europe.
The U.S. is starting to suck in terms of non shooters.
Gonna stick with that. I don't think NoA is going to pass up a Sakaguchi RPG for the Wii in the US.
Last Window didn't come stateside because no one bought Hotel Dush when Nintendo published it for Cing. Same thing with Trace Memory. So I'm gonna blame Americans for that more than NOA.
But still, it's okay to hope.
Here's hoping of the release of One Peice Unlimited Cruise 3D in US!
I do feel bad for our European Friends. They get left behind quite a bit.
Funny, that's how all my dreams start.
My hopes not completely gone yet, no one will be happier to play these games than me if we should get them, but for those who don't understand my skepticism go look up 2 games called The Last Window and Mother 3.
i need this along with Xenoblade and Fatal Frame 4 and 2 Remake :P
Shut the fuck up. Shouting and raging may be the only way most of you yanks know to respond, but it isn't helping your case. You won't care when Europe gets shafted again, so let us have this one.
Could you do me a favor and NOT diss Europe this much? Destructoid does in fact have European readers, you know? Posts like this make it sound like everything is always about the US...
Besides that, it's not like Europe always gets the niche games. In fact, it's mostly the reverse; many of such games never make it to Europe, or only do so with a major delay. That includes several games by Monolith itself (I had to mod and import just to play Baten Kaitos Origins), which did not look good for the future of Xenoblade.
Finally, there's always E3, I wouldn't be surprised if both games were announced there for the US: don't complain until you have reason to.
