Rumor: Epic Games teases something, then stops photo

Epic Games teased the world and chances are you missed it like we did. According to Kotaku, the official Epic Games Web site had a momentary teaser with a still image and the words “It’s Unreal. And it’s almost here.” As for what the hell the company was teasing, well, that’s anyone’s guess at this point. It may have had something to do with different Unreal Engine tech or an Unreal-branded game.

Hell, it may have even been teasing an Unreal-themed Snuggie given how metal (and warm-looking) that Gears of War prototype body bag blanket looks. But the point is we’re not sure what it was teasing or even why a teaser so this vague would be removed from an official Web site. Perhaps the world -- or Epic Games -- just wasn’t ready for it.

Unreal Tournament 4? That would be kool. Or Gears Of War for PS3. HA!

I'm with MrSadistic. Unreal III would make sense. I was so disappointed when all the character models they were showing off when UE3 was first getting publicity ended up being for Gears of War, not a new Unreal.

Not that Unreal (i.e. not Tournament) games are ever worth getting excited about, but they're pretty!

It's about time we got a sequel to Unreal......

Yeah, exactly. Unreal II was alright but it just wasn't Unreal, goddammit. The first Unreal blew my fucking brains out of the back of my head and onto my dumb struck brother sitting directly behind me. He didn't mind though seeing as his brain was also fucking blown out!

Ah, when will that ever happen again?

Man, I hope its Unreal 3 or even a new IP altogether. I just hope its not UT4, still a great series, but I'd love to revisit the unreal universe with a proper single player campaign.

Unreal Tournament = ShadowRun, but with 'Mass Effect elevator' length waiting for textures to load.

The unreal enginge does some great things, but even in Borderlands I wait for textures to load EVERYTIME a new area is entered. What year is it again?

My guess is Unreal Engine 4, not a game.

Is it just me or does the top half of the header/teaser image look like an iPhone? Hmm...

@whowhatwherehow - Slightly yes, but I think it's just a coincidence. Just a star coming over the horizon "Almost here". The black n' white color scheme does make it look iPhone'ish though you're right.

I love Unreal Tournament (never cared for Unreal itself), but it needs the break they're giving it.

Probably UE4. They need something to stand up against CryEngine 3.

They're bringing back Jill of the Jungle, aren't they? Please say they are!
It's been my dream for 15 years, and I'll hunt them down and castrate them if they shoot it down now!

@ Wookiee

Wow...that's going back. If we're talking about what I think we are...I ran that game from DOS. Not even a DOS prompt...I had to boot my whole machine to DOS.

I also played the hell out of Duke Nukem 1 and 2. Where the hell are those on XBLA?

Jill was the first game heroine I ever had a major crush on... before I had even started puberty.

I'd like to see an Unreal game with a real single player campaign.

Unreal 2's single player was pretty poor but it's later added PC multiplayer mode: XMP was extremely fun and quite deep (Similar to Crysis Wars' Power Struggle and Double CTF).

Though the Xbox version of XMP was miserable since it required at least 24 players to work and XBL couldn't be stressed beyond 8-10 players in the Xbox XMP.

But man was XMP on the PC fantastic, a little bit of Tribes, a little bit of UT2004s Onslaught and a little bit of Wolfenstein Enemy Territory.

Nah, UE4 won't be out until the next console generation.

It's most likely Unreal 3. It seems to fit the hint. Hopefully for the PC. And I really wish I didn't have to say that.

Maybe flash versions of the first Unreal? Or Unreal Engine 4, considering that they don't want people licensing other engines (i.e. Cry Engine 3). It does say "It's almost here", so my guess is on a flash Unreal game.
