According to Giant Bomb's well-placed tipster, Electronic Arts/EA Sports is currently working on resurrecting Midway's NFL Blitz series.
EA Sports recently releases NBA Jam remakes across all platforms, and reports had previously suggested EA picked up other Midway sports title, as well. Certainly NFL Blitz would fall into that category, but it may be awhile before we see anything concrete -- the game is reportedly early in development, and we may not see it until 2012.
NBA Jam has received plenty of buzz, with most reviews (including my own) pointing out that, yup, it's definitely NBA Jam; that's not a bad thing by any means. With Blitz series creator Mark Turmell rumored to be serving as Senior Creative Director for EA's update, fans of arade-style sports should have something to be excited about… even if it's just a rumor.
