With Street Fighter X Tekken all wrapped up and ready to shipped (and hacked), Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono has supposedly shifted his attentions to creating the next installment to the Darkstalkers franchise. That's according to Venture Beat anyway. The game reportedly would use a similar engine to those previously seen in Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter X Tekken.

For those of us that enjoyed the series in the arcades or the 2005 PSP compilation, Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, it sure would be nice to see Morrigan and the gang back in action again. Barring any announcement from GDC this week, we can look forward to Capcom's Captivate event in April to see if the publisher has anything official to announce regarding the matter.

The rumor is also that it will use the same graphics engine as SFxT and SF4. 3D models instead of 2D sprites. Some characters are going to look terrible given how much they deform and transform (Anakaris, Zebal, and Pyron for instance)

Although I agree with Jawmuncher, I'd very much like to play Darkstalkers 4. I'm not sure I'd like it to be like Street Fighter 4 though.

I enjoy the 2.5D stuff, it looks very smooth and isn't limited by frames of animation used. It also scales up to high resolutions better. BlazBlue's characters don't look so hot at 1080p. Though running morphological anti-aliasing helps smooth them out a bit.

i just hope using the SF X tekken(which is based on SFIV which is also used in other games like RE5, Lost Planet, UMVC3, Dead Rising, DMC4) won't be having the same gameplay from the SFIV and SF X Tekken series.

they're too slow to be honest, would love a sprite based game like Blazblue or KOFXIII.

don't care if they also use those on next gen as well since sprites are awesome and fast paced :P

i also fear they might cancel this in the middle of development.

What I would give for a new Dino Crisis. Seriously I just wanna shoot a Trex with a rocket launcher, is that so much to ask Capcom? I guess a new Darkstalkers would be fine though I was never crazy for the series.

Another entry in one of the only fighting game series that I ever enjoyed enough to learn the ins-and-outs of every character rather than putting up with the gameplay only because of the interesting characters,graphics and/or gimmicks?
I'd chip in to kickstart that. I'd fierce kickstart that even if it only causes chip damage to the over-all cost of production.

It'd probably be the only fighting game I buy this generation if it were to happen.. But I'd still probably wait out a complete edition down the line. Nothings going to make me trust Capcom with their fighting game business right now, not even something I've wanted for so many years.

Also, I'm with MetaTotoro.. I'd almost rather be reading about a new Breath of Fire game, then this.
