Rumor: Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol (DS) canceled photo

Potential bad news for fans of cute little housekeeping robots: word from GameStop/EB Games corporate is that Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol, the DS sequel to the adorable GameCube title, has been canceled. Customers who had reserved the game received the call today from the sultry-voiced GameStop/EB Games robot, Aeris, and a few quick calls to multiple local stores confirm that an e-mail communication regarding the cancellation was received this morning.

This is troubling news for fans of Chibi-Robo -- the title (which was released in Japan earlier this month) was set to hit stores late September of this year. Nintendo's official site is currently listing the game for an October 2 release, so all of this could be a big misunderstanding. One can only hope.

For now, we're treating this as a rumor. We've contacted Nintendo for comment, and we'll update this huge story as it breaks.

Seriously? Considering how close to release time it is, that's a hell of a decision to make.

So God has finally been slain then, now all that is left is to try and find out how long we have until the dark lord assumes his throne.

This would be especially odd since Eurogamer already posted a review (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=80472). It could be just a U.S. cancellation. Otherwise, I can't recall another time when a game got cancelled after it had been totally completed.

Wasn't Thrill Kill complete?

Yeah, I was looking forward to this.

After watching the Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword gameplay vid, I think it's a noble sacrafice.

Just stay with me, William Haley. Just one more sunrise together. We shall watch from this hilltop as the world burns.

This seems like an odd cancellation. Who cancels a DS game? They don't typically take very many resources to complete (by comparison) and they have a very good chance of making lots of money, especially if they are cute (aww, look at the robot). Maybe the developer is being broken up or something?

I bet it's a delay. Probably until next year.

Every DS game in the US is going to have a hell of a time competing with Phantom Hourglass this year. They are better off saving this one until after X-Mas.
