All right, so during the week this story might be brushed off as a crazy unfounded rumor from a random French site, but it's the weekend and we're all about the crazy French during the weekend.
French gaming site NoFrag is reporting that they have a reliable source that has informed them that Blizzard's next game will be partly a first person MMO. Of course we all know Blizzard has been working on a new IP for some time now and that it is going to be an MMO, so it is expected that details would leak out at some point. Whether that point is now is dependent on how much faith you want to put in the French.
The site also claims that the game will take place in a futuristic world where players will have two lives. The first life will be a sort of Sims Online interactive social hub. This character will have the ability to connect to the second life, which will be where the fighting takes place and most likely the first person stuff. It sounds odd and extremely metaphysical to say the least.
To justify posting such a blatant rumor, let's end this with a question. What would you like to see the next MMO from Blizzard be?
Blizzard is working on a MMOFPS [NoFrag]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Because someone needs to tear that up so they can fire up production on Ghost again. Then I'll give them my money.
And with the Starcraft license, yeah, I could totally buy into this.
Lineage III.
Definitely Persona 3 and 4...
Something more intriguing than Orcs, Demons, and Space marines.....
Damn..... Theres really nothing much ey?
1: Blizzard is now ActivisionBlizzard(this is fact) so Blizzard is partnering with another activision owned(is it?) Developer, Infinity Ward. First Person futuristic MMO.
2: The long-desired World of StarCraft. Before I continue with this one, they claim a new IP, so its not WoS.
3: Blizzard makes great games. Their (seemingly) only misstep has been StarCraft: Ghost, going so far as to 'postpone it indefinitely'. But new IP, move along.
That's all I've got for now. What I'd like to see? World of StarCraft. Hands down, the second best series they have(IMO, duh). Since it's gotta be a new IP I couldn't even begin to fathom what it could be but if they put the same production value and time that they've put into WoW, they've got my $15/Month.
(Fun Fact: 'Tigole' left the WoW dev team to work on this new MMO. A lot of people attribute WoW no longer being enjoyable due to him switching to this new project, leaving WoW development in other hands.)
A sci-fi/futuristic MMO would cashgrab the remaining holdouts who wouldn't play WoW because of the 'fantasy' theme. In fact, if WoW wasn't a spiritual successor to Diablo, I could see Blizzard successfully market, develop, launch and sustain all of their major franchises as successful MMO's.

Dreams. I can have them, no matter how impossible.
The thing I'd most like to see is Blizzard working with GSC to make a first-person shooter STALKER MMORPG. It would make me so damn happy :D
And a lot of people attribute WoW being a lot more accessible, more diverse, more entertaining, and less life-leeching now that Tigole has gone.
*Crosses fingers for The Secret World*
@Faultymoose: Its cute looking at the pretty letters that you typed! /pats you. Now let us non-casual WoW players talk. :) --->The game is also no longer challenging--anyone can run easy-as-hell content for end-game gear, instances are constantly getting toned down for the select(loud) few who find it difficult and overall, the game just feels like Warcraft for dummies now.
Also, it wouldn't make sense for Infinity Ward to be working with Blizzard on this, seeing as Blizz has developing this MMO for at least two years, and welll, IW put out MW2 last fall.
lol, nah.. I didn't, actually. ;X
Yeah, I'm thinking people got trolled!
Wow. You're a helluva cocktease, eh?
that would be my take if true.
What they said was "Blizzard is working on a MMO where you can control the camera"
It's fair to assume the info is legit.
Maybe they got trolled yeah, but
Plus they're not going to release anything which could drives players away from WoW.
The three only other game gendra which are highly played are Sports Games, The Sims and FPS.
So it makes senses that they're trying a mix between the two you can mix.
then it has my vote...but if its some instanced 32-64 player combat (mag?) BS then GTFO and give me my 1k players to kill..
