just couldn't help myself lol
Also: NO Morrison. Once upon a time he ruled; now he just needs to stay away from the keyboard.
but the only question is, if it's a prequel, then what was the deal with Scarecrow's secret boat lair? I thought that was supposed to be the hook for the sequel like the hidden room in the first game was
"the killing joke isn't canon"
It was before the New 52 thing. I know Batgirl can walk again but not how it happened. Did they pull a Brand New Day and pretend she had never been crippled in the first place? I haven't been keeping up so I'm not sure if it's still canon or not.
...btw, stuff like this is why Nolan Batman is best Batman
>Barbara Gordon recovers from her paralysis following a surgical procedure
So yeah, the events of The Killing Joke took place in regular continuity.
You're still right in what you meant though, because what was presented there wasn't a literal interpretation of Joker's origin. Remember how he gives like, three different accounts of his beginnings in The Dark Knight? He's crazy as hell and so is Alan Moore.
Also, I'm a geek. :)
Anywho. PS4/Nextbox launch window maybe? One can only hope...
Its a rumor, so I know how that shit goes, but I sure hope its just a rumor. The idea of going back to the Silver Age is great, but I'm kind of sick of the Joker.
I also don't know if I'll be able to stomach anyone else being the Joker in this game, since Hamill's retired from the voice. I watch DC's direct to video animation (seriously, check it out, its all WAAAAY better then most of their theatrical live action movies), and any time someone else does Joker it literally makes me sick, cause they never get it "right". And forget abotu whoever did the voice for Lego Batman (Christopher Corey Smith, who's great in MANY other roles I've heard him in, but just isn't as joker), he's just not joker.
Overall though, The Harley Quinn DLC did jack shit to really give us any real solid feeling of what Batman was going through because of the Joker's death, aside from some exposition at the beginning, and THATS what they need to explore more -meaning they need to move forward, not back. Unless the Silver Age stuff turns out to be FLASHBACKS, then thats a pretty great idea to throw in, if it helps to move on from senselessly beating a dead horse.
A silver age DC game in general would be great, but if they're going to stick with Batman and Joker then I don't know. I won't pass, but I'll be gritting my teeth a little.
@Hystzen
Hamill won't be the Joker any more. Arkham City was supposed to be the last time he was ever doing the voice. He's retired from the role because its almost like Luke Skywalker to him, it's given him a good life, but its pretty much consumed his career.
"That single statement indicates to me the first oncoming thrust of manhood, old chum."
I love Batman, I grew up on Batman in the 80's.
And I still own some decent Silver Age Bat comics...
But the Batman I really love is the dark, serious one. The Silver Age stuff is fun, but I can't take it very seriously. I know it laid the groundwork, and of course I appreciate that. But I just can't help but feel that this isn't MY Batman. I'd still buy the game, because it's Batman, but I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy it.
That said I've never liked Batman's involvement in the Justice League. I mean, I'm glad he's there as he's my favorite hero by far, but it's just not something Batman would do, joining them I mean. He's so out of character and out of his element with the JL.
Of course Silver Age Batman IS NOT out of character in being alongside the Justice League, so that does work with the setting.
All the same, time will tell. Could be amazing.
I'm confident Rocksteady can rock Batman in any setting, but as some other folks have already mentioned they dropped plenty of teasers with Hush, Scarecrow, and Azreal. Unless they've got two games in the pipe I'd be pretty shocked if this were true. Damn happy, but damn shocked!
Clone him, make him look a little different due to Titan in his blood, and have Joe Dimaggio do the voice. He did a bitchin job of Joker in Under the Red Hood!
When I first played AA it was the perfect Batman anything I have ever experience, but a new direction sounds amazing seeing as how just more of the same will make the Arkham titles less special visually.
I remember when COD4 came out and I was blown away by the realistic style and color correction, but now it doesn't have the same appeal. And I am not talking Graphical fidelity, those games haven't looked good since 2007.
