I don't know if I buy this rumor. Jumping from the style of the first two games to a Silver Age style just doesn't seem like it would work.

There is an aesthetic and atmosphere to the Silver Age stuff that I think could work really well in a video game. Its certainly an untapped world and would be an interesting change of pace from modern day gritty. Color me interested.

I'd love for this to be an honest to goodness detective style game where you follow a trail of clues to a nice reveal of the Joker towards the end of the story.
Isn't how batman and Joker met and everything Covered in The Killing Joke? Are they making something new up and ignoring the Killing Joke
They should get Michael McKean (Spinal Tap) to voice the Joker like he did for that Silver Age sextion of the one episode of the 90s Batman cartoon where the three kids were explaining thier versions of Batman...
Interesting idea, but I find it to be highly unlikely. I love the cheesiness of the silver age, and I'd love to fight gangsters who use plants to rob banks, or fight goons as bat baby. But should Rocksteady do that as a follow-up? No, I do not think so. I thought Arkham City was pretty damn solid, but had a few hairs that cold be trimmed. Trim those and show some obscure villains, and I'll be happy.
actually from the information revealed so far, it seems like they're aiming for "Marvel Cinematic Universe" type thing in videogame format since it will be about founding Justice League of America(so, Justice League game instead of Batman 4?). if that means quality DC superhero games in vein of Batman series i'm definitely down for that.
When ever people talk about batman projects Batman year one always comes up, so maybe they are thinking about something like that (wait was that in the silver age?)

Ew. While I didn't think the super-buff character designs in the Arkham games were great, there's nothing appealing to me about Silver Age comics. I'm not even a fan of the Justice League.
A Batman game fully realized in TAS art style would make me run around in a Batman suit for a week out of excitement, though.
Ultimately, their games are amazing, so I'll hope they are working on something. DC's strategy of monetizing its characters just 'cause sounds like absolute shit, though.

Maybe it's gonna be like Hitman Contracts, with Bats beaten up in the middle of a big threat of Gotham, and he'll be having flashbacks about the Joker and Justice League (Maybe the JL come to help him)

70's Batsuit was my favorite alternate outfit. This could be a great aesthetic, and I think Rocksteady's track record with this franchise should easily give them the benefit of the doubt, at this point.
If this is true then I highly doubt it's Rocksteady's only game in development, no way they give up on the Arkhamverse when it's raking in the cash AND the awards. I'll look forward to it based on that assumption.

I think a timeline change would be interesting. It's a nice opportunity to refresh the IP. But (and this may be heretical for many), I am sick of the Joker. I realize he's Batman's arch nemesis, but a different main villain would be refreshing.
I don’t buy it, not only because almost every side mission in Arkham City was hinting towards what’s going to happen next, but part of what makes the Arkham games great is they don’t need to tell an origin story, even if you don’t read comics everybody knows who Batman and the Joker are already.
What I would believe is that it’s one of their trippy dream sequences done in the Silver Age style, or if they wanted to be really awesome, camp 60’s Batman style. They should hire Adam West to voice the whole section and have POW and ZONK appear when you hit enemies, you can have that idea for free Rocksteady.

Sounds like the writer got his rumors mixed up and is thinking of a completely different game. I like the sound of this but don't see it happening as an Arkham title.
I would be fine if they used the stories from the 50s, but in the modern age. Don't know how I would feel if they also used the 50s aesthetic.
Also, I wish they'd do Adam West DLC for Arkham City. They're probably already working on the next one by now though...

I really wanted to see a world without Joker. The idea was such a shock at the end of Arkam City. Instead were're going to the 50s so DC can promote the Justice League? If done right, 50s Gotham City would be pretty cool. Cameo's of the Justice league are fine but this IS a Batman series. I even thought the catwoman DLC was completely unnecessary.
I'm disappointing that they don't go forward and the idea of ANY tie in to a movie makes my skin crawl. I'll reserve judgement till I see the actual game before I start panicking that Rocksteady is the next Bioware.

I agree completely. For an example of why superman is a terrible character, one need only watch the south park episode "fun with weapons". Having the power to have every power is fucking fail writing. Unless of course you are parodying superman.

Hrm, they already teased a sequel with Hush in Arkham City. Could this be along the lines of a DLC expansion? Or perhaps a side-project while working on the next major game in the series?

I think this is an awesome idea. Batman belongs in a cool late 40's, early 50's film noir aesthetic. Fedoras, tommy guns, throw in the Iceberg Lounge as a big bang nightclub and this could very well turn into one of my favorite games.
i hope they stop after this one, i don't think making a shit ton of batman games will be good in the long run

I dunno, a few thing in Arkham City, like the ending of the Identity Theft side quest, seemed to be setting up a direct sequel.
Don't think so, most of the influences in the gameplay point to new depictions of Batman, mostly the animated series. Silver Age Batman does not fit the stealth and combat of the Arkham series.
Basically, the next game will have color, god be praised.

I'm not sure this rumor makes any sense. The current two Arkham games are clearly set in the modern day. Drawing from the Silver Age stories may work, but actually setting it in the 1950s? That would make Batman and the Joker old men by the time the current Arkham games occur. It would have to be an alternate universe kind of thing, or they'd have to update the time period.
