Ruffian Games is working on something called Project Crackdown 1.5 photo

Hmmm. I wonder what that game could be. If it is actually a new Crackdown, that has to be the worst project name ever.

If the rumors are right, the Scottish developer formed of former Crackdown staff is working on a new Crackdown game scheduled for release for the end of 2009 or early 2010. The folks at VG247 say that this "1.5" version is set in the same world as the Realtime Worlds Xbox 360 original.

Another rumor says that there will be an announcement tomorrow.

So what is this? An upgrade? Judging by the project name, is this not a full sequel?

hmm... I loved Crackdown, and I'm sure I'll pick this up if its a good price and if it's real. Here's hoping.

I coudl see this taking the current Crackdown "engine" and building a stronger story around it. Crackdown was a blast, but throwing a little charisma into the title would be awesome.

Maybe they'll use the same cityscape but pick up after the end of the first one, with the Agents fighting the Agency perhaps? I dunno, but depending on how much they add to this 1.5 iteration I could be very willing to buy this. I love the original...

It's probably going to be some underwhelming expansion pack, or something along the lines of that new Halo add-on.

I was excited for Crackdown, but as I kept playing it the more I felt let down. As way to unleash aggression and blow random crap up, it's great, but for some reason I actually went in and expected a worthwhile story.

I beat the game in the Single Player mode, but most of my fun was derived from Cooperative play.

Perhaps a re-release, like Bully.

I loved Crackdown, anything they do to expand upon the experience is alright with me.

Better be priced accordingly though.

Crackdown was an awesome game. Yes, it lacked any story, but the sandbox environment was a blast. If they kept the same engine, but added a more interesting storyline, it would be a great game.

Now that they have the feel of the game down, and the engine running smoothly, all I could ask for are some graphical tweaks, a better soundtrack, and a story that's worth a damn.

The ending of the first Crackdown was a complete cop-out...that is all

Halo Wars Beta?

I kid - Crackdown is one of my favorite titles from the 360, I would love more of the same.

I just got around to playing the demo of Crackdown. I think that if the second one had a decent story, it could be very, very good. The jumping and platforming was fun, the combat was very simple but functional, and the driving worked. The style is excellent, and collecting orbs is more fun than the missions themselves. I would have bought this game if it had more than a cliché "kill these three gangs" plot. We'll see how it goes.

If it has a few things tweaked, it could be good.

Rumor is that this is a multiplayer focused VERSION of Crackdown 1. So, not Crackdown 2, just a lazy rehash built out of the recent (strangely enough. i love this game to death and always have, but it's weird the massive amounts of love it's been getting the past few month) stint of massive love it's received as of late.

I love Crackdown 1, and am writing a big ol blog about this shit right now, AND I'm glad that it's in the hands of most of the original team. But I don't want this half-assed sounding bullshit. I want Crackdown 2. Not, sorta basically Crackdown 1 shit.
