I suppose this game could still give you a bit of control, like you mentioned. Certain items may skew results in one direction, or add extra benefit for something. So who knows, maybe I'd be down with this.

RPGs and slot machines collide in Battle Slots
This is Battle Slots, a new title from Phantom EFX releasing for PC April 19th and making its way to consoles sometime later. The game appears to be taking a page from the Puzzle Quest playbook in that it's using a casual game concept and applying RPG elements to it. What I rather like is that there's no pretense of skill shown here in the spinning of the reels. I'm sure there is a ton of strategy involved in character growth and equipment management. But, unlike in Puzzle Quest, the random nature of combat isn't disguised by a game mechanic where you're given some measure of input that, at best, still winds up dependent on whatever the game decides to drop in the playfield next. It just seems more honest this way. I wonder if it's as much fun. Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I can't read for shit this morning. I thought the title said Battle Sluts and thought, "I don't know what RPGs and slot machines have to do with sluts, but there is no way in hell I cannot click this." I'm sure this can have an audience, but I've never been a fan of slots. Strangely, my preferred casino game is roulette, the other completely random one. I guess the difference, though, is that you still feel a bit in control of stuff, in that you choose what to bet on, rather than just pulling a lever.
