Aussie adventure game fans are in for a treat this July as it's been confirmed that famed game designer Ron Gilbert will be the opening "story time" keynote speaker at the first PAX Australia. The creator of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, and more recently The Cave, will be at the Melbourne event July 19-21, 2013.

A few regular PAX musical guests are confirmed for the Australian leg -- The Protomen and MC Frontalot -- along with the crew from Rooster Teeth as well as Tycho and Gabe, of course.

When PAX Australia was announced, I was worried that it wouldn't attract many notable figures but Gilbert would be a big draw. I'd love to hear his keynote, especially if he talks about his time at LucasArts developing those early adventure game classics. I could've asked him when he sat next to me at PAX Prime last year, but he seemed really keen on just eating his hot dog.

Left 4 Dead 2 on PC is finally reclassified as R18+ in Australia

As a former Australian resident, one thing I don't miss there was the lack of an R18+ rating for videogames; despite the fact that the R18+ rating has now been introduced, there have still been cuts to games like South Park: ...more

Video: Wilhelm is like a Terminator on rocket skates in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Back with more impressions from playing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, I had some first-hand playtime with the cybernetic tough guy, Wilhelm the Enforcer, which I would like to relate to you with my mouth. Wilhelm may not be all he's cracked up to be, yet. But he's got a couple of interesting surprises.more
