Roll your own Guitar Hero III demo, papers not included

Roll your own Guitar Hero III demo, papers not included photo
     Xbox 360

According to Berserk Goose, a moderator on Xbox Live The Guide Forum, downloading and creating your own playable Guitar Hero III demo is as easy as following a short list of instructions (which you can find past the jump). Assuming you have the ability to download files, use a PC to sort through them and burn them to a DVD, you shouldn't have any problem getting a sneak peek at GHIII far earlier than Activision would have liked.

It took me about 20 minutes to complete the instructions, the bulk of which was spent downloading the file, and I can confirm that the method used works for me. A few people seem to be having issues, but if you follow the instructions to the letter, you should be fine.

Normally this is the point at which I would make a joke about Owen Wilson's drug habit or his avian beak of a nose, but honestly I'm too giddy to want to push him even closer to hari-kari seppuku than I already have this morning.

Enjoy!

To quote the Goose:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5OX44D2U

Burn to a CD or DVD

You have to get the "Content" folder and put that (with everything in it) onto the DVD/CD, the demo will be where the other demos on your 360 normally are (game blade, demos and more).

5 songs on the demo

Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Pat Benatar

Lay Down
Priestess

Even Flow
Pearl Jam

Rock You Like A Hurricane
Scorpions

The Metal
Tenacious D

As much as I like Even Flow, I would have much preferred "Do the Evolution" that song is so much sicker than Even Flow. But as a whole, the "ten" album was Pearl Jams best.

It's also on the torrents if megaupload is being a bitch.

Also: burn it to CD! It works too :)

CD didn't work for me, but DVD worked just fine. It's.... Guitar Hero. Nothing really too different - mostly just small tweaks that and new songs.

A couple things I like about this over GH2 is that the fretboard has more "muted" colours which helps the notes stand out a little better, and the fretboard doesn't shake when you kick in star power - it's a completely smooth transition. Star power seems to be a lot more readily available as well. I'm REALLY on the fence about picking this up, having already decided to get Rock Band...

Been doing it for 2 days now. :D
It's pretty kick ass.
But the new singer has the biggest mouth i've ever seen.

The new hammer on and pull off system is a lot more forgiving, and players should be able to do a lot better on expert.

Worked for me and demo is amazing. Too bad there is time limit i think. All I know is I failed a song and then the demo ended :(

@ Venomex

I've thought about it, and I can't see why they would decide to ban people in this situation. There's no modding at all and you don't have to go through some weird profile sharing glitch like with the COD4 beta. All you do is plop a CD/DVD in your drive and play. There doesn't appear to be any TOS that would be violated with this.

Or, you could just go to a store and buy the latest issue of OXM. I've had it for like three days now. You know, whatever works for you I guess.

I was sad that this was only an Xbox 360 "hack", but then I realized that it's impossible for them to put out any sort of PS3 demos because you can't plug the PS2 guitar controller into the PS3. It'll be out in what, like less than 10 days, right?

Medium? People still play that? Too slow to even be fun.

4/5 of the news songs are great....Hit Me With Your Best Shot sucks. Its not a good song, not fun to listen to, and even more dull to play. If I didn't already know 90% of the final playlist is awesome, I would be worried with this as the first song on the demo.

So, my school has a filter, and it blocks personal upload storage sites. Therefore, I can not download this.

Is there ANYONE who would want to do me the favor of sending me this over aim or msn? I would greatly appreciate it.

@Mylor

What part of it isn't working? Need more info than that to diagnose the problem.

However, I can say what I did... Download the gh3.iso file, burn it onto the disc, put the disc in your Xbox, and than go into the Demos section (where your normally downloaded demos would be) and it should show up in there.

Anyone else that's done this so far notice how horribly slow the demo loads (about 2 minutes on the first screen, about 30 seconds for each song) or is that just a problem involving my xbox and/or disc?
