"Ball it up and roll it around, I love you, always smile for you! You're my only Love Moon, so we've gotta hang in there!" - translated lyrics from Katamari Damacy theme, "Katamari on the Rocks"
Yeah, so I don't know what the hell they're talking about either. But who cares? Katamari Damacy was a breath of quirky and fun fresh air. Its follow ups, We Love Katamari and (the disasterous PSP title) Me & My Katamari left fans of the Prince and the King demanding more.
Good news! The rumors of a new Katamari game for next-gen consoles is coming true. Namco Bandai have revealed Beautiful Katamari for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. While these scans don't show a huge visual difference, there is one big addition that is going to have fans rolling up their couch and cat in preparation: online play on both platforms.
Additionally, the game is said to have larger areas of play with little to no loading times. There is no announced release date, but the game is roughly 50% complete.
Our Japanese translating bear, Tanaka Blackfoot-san, is on vacation, but I've faxed him the images to gather some more intel. This post will be updated accordingly.
[Update: Thanks to a translation by our very own DMV, we can confirm that not only will the game have little to no loading times, but will be gigantic. 10,000 kilometers gigantic. Yowzers.]
Making that sumo eat all the pies was a great level…actually he ate people
So do dung beetles. Weird, huh?

Dear Zombie Jesu-Buddh-Yeshu-llah,
Thank you for this game. Thank you for the 360 port.
Thank you (in advance) for the soundtrack that will surely accompany this game and will rock harder (in KD terms) than any Katamari Damacy title has before it.
I can see the difference. The art style is identical, but there's a lot more detail in the shadowing of the models and on the textures themselves. The photo at the top of the page shows boxes of stuff, and the labels on the boxes look far more detailed on the label than they ever did on the PS2.
I would imagine the true beauty of this sucker will be in the scale of the world (one of the screenshots shows you rolling up the planet, I'd bet you have to start that level at a fairly small size...) and the draw distance. Anything to make the world you're slowly rolling up is even MORE alive than the previous titles.
I've loved the overall look of the game. They treat humans as if they were Kubrick toys and I'm glad they're keeping that way, from the looks of things.
let me roll things up and listen to catchy jpoop and i'm a happy camper.
nick, the psp version wasn't that godawful, the controls were just a little different, i really didn't mind it all that much. i think they did a good job with the hadware they had to work with.
DAAAA D DA DA DAA DA DA DAAAA DAAA etc etc :)
Well, I was bitten by that radioactive dung beetle back in high school...
dun-duku-dun-duku-dun-duku-dun-dun.
"The Wii is also one of our platform choices. We would like to challenge with different interfaces such as the keyboard on a PC, or the touch pad on the DS. However, the controller for Wii is quite unique so being able to overcome the different issues will be the key."
So, it's one of their platform choices. Therfore, it is coming to the Wii. And occording to old news, it's coming out one month later.
It's also been rumored that it's coming to the Wii a month later than other consoles.

So, maybe this is Namco's way of explaining the month delay.
I didn't like it but why is pretty obvious.
the king would aslo blow up the sumo guy ( the one you beat ) if you click star dust O_o
