Just saw on the PSN Store that you can pre-order it. That's right, you can pre-order a digital pass to obtain future digital content for a game that has yet to be released. You would think there would at least be some incentive to buy something like this now.
R* does quality gaming. I'm sure MP3 will be a fantastic and long-running game with or without this DLC.
And I'm gonna buy it granted there's plenty of maps already on-disc.

Game publishers keep making it easier to be virtuous and be patient for GOTY/complete editions of titles. Either that or wait for significant sales.
I have not bought a game at full price since... shit, I can't even remember. Even Kingdoms of Amalur I bought brand new, but on a pre-order sale for $45. I waited a few months for Mass Effect 3 and snagged it for $30. Why do people bother buying full price on day one? It makes no sense. If you hate how these pricing schemes are, then you have no one to blame but yourself for falling for them.

@B-Radicate Same here. After Saints Row 3 I refuse to buy any retail game for full price just to feel like I didn't get my money's worth. At least Indies don't screw us over like this.
I'm willing to actually try the multiplayer aspect of the game once I beat the singleplayer and then...gasp!...If I enjoy it enough to want to buy the extra DLC I will.

29.99 on top of 60 dollar sticker price? Fuck you Max Payne. Suppose to help prevent piracy by offering value for the dollar, not drive people to the cannons of ye olde pirate bay with insane cash grab like this. It's pretty fucking dumb, but isn't this basically what cod elite does, along with the R* pass for LA Noire last year, Gears 3's season pass, Saints Row 3's complete DLC pass...the only reason this is a thing is because it works for other games and you people (collectively) buy it up, so yeah the gaming community practically asked to be nickel and dimed.

Well good, at least there's no relevant content being withheld. Since I can't imagine why anyone would want to play this multiplayer.
This is really not on the top of my list with the shitty way Rockstar has handled their recent PC games. I'll probably pick up the PC version on clearance at Best Buy in four months (since that is where most PC games end up).

Cool. I've never played Max Payne(just one of those things I missed out on back in the dark ages when this series was relevant), and was genuinely intrigued about this one as it's looking pretty hype. But now the good people at Rockstar have made it so I'm not going to bother at all, as that is a fucking obscene DLC scheme, and I am not down with it in the slightest.
Also, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there is no GOTY edition. It seems to fly directly in the face of the strategy behind making DLC season ticket things in the first place. Why would they sell Max Payne for $90 only to spend the money to re-release it later for less money? They want people to buy the game new, and buy the DLC, not buy neither and wait for the next edition to come out.

Pay to play map-packs are the bane of every multiplayer game in existence. That is not an exaggeration.

Amazing. Why do they fracture the online portion of the game publishers force fed us to believe gives the title longevity? I actually feel horrible for the developers caught in these situations. By the time the GotY edition is out, the multi-player facet will most likely be dead, and Call of Duty is just around the corner, not like I plan to BLOPsII. Instead of coming out the gate strong to hold the audience with content on disk. They literally damage the segment of the game the publishers herald as tantamount, since as we are lead to believe single player games have no market. Atleast this entry price point of $90.00 is passable and non-essential, unlike the EA cut throats debacle where they focus and field tested the $70.00 entry price point for Javik who was basically almost essential in the plot.
