Analyst Michael Pachter talked to
Shacknews today and told them that Rockstar North may decide to break away from Take-Two Interactive when their contracts expire February 2009. Patcher believes that after EA paid over $800 million for the
Pandemic and BioWare deal, Rockstar North wants to see what would happen to them if they split off from Take-Two.
So if this goes down, how much do you think companies would pay to get Rockstar? GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas are all in the top 20 console games of all time and everyone is going bananas over anything they can see from GTA IV. Can you just imagine the bidding war Sony and Microsoft would have over them if they try and snatch Rockstar?

Ultimately whoever is the highest bidder needs to let them retain full artistic control over their work. You don't buy an award winning show dog then neuter him.
@ brainderailment : idk if its because things might be a little different release-date-wise across the pond but in the US so many high profile games are expected next year alone on the 360, im just curious as to how u came to believe Microsoft might not care?
I think they are doing so well now, because of the stuff they get away with from being at Take-Two. But that's just me, at 3:30am, probably not making much sense.
If there is any company with deep enough pockets and enough lawyers to handle future (read: inevitable) suits, it's the 'Soft.
This headline leaves out the fact that this is just a guess by Michael Pachter.
Sure it's in the first sentence, but the comments here show that barely any of you read that far.
Rockstar North belongs to Rockstar Games....Don't you mean Rockstar Games and not just one of their studios?
