Rockstar launches L.A. Noire Crime Map photo

L.A. has lots of crime happening in it, as cities often do, so why not make a fun little web gimmick out of it? Rockstar has launched a "Crime Map" of the city to prepare us for L.A. Noire's release, and it's actually quite cool.

If you're unfamiliar with the concept of a Crime Map, it's a full-on map of the city, with little flags pointing out where crimes have happened. If you click on a flag, you get an original news clipping from ye olde days, explaining what happened. There are a number of quite bizarre ones.

The L.A. Noire themed map contains all the nefarious deeds perpetrated in 1947, the year the game is set.

The crimes range in severity from theft to homicide, and more are to be added to the map as time goes by. Check it out. It's oddly compelling.

@Jim - Have you guys got your hands on the game and reviewed/reviewing it now? I can't wait for this game to be released! Shame it didn't come out on the PC though!

Having gone to college in Claremont (near where the 10 and 57 intersect), it would be AWESOME if the game had a case out there, back when it was just orange fields and a few schools.

Man I can't wait to catch those Acrobatic Milk Drinking Meat Smugglin Burglars that totally were wearing Overcoats and Ear muffs when they stole that safe.

Dear Rockstar, show us some more gameplay videos. What are you guys hiding? Hopefully the game won't suck.

@ JimSterling

Any idea which version you'll be getting?

I'm only wondering because the PS3 is said to have been the lead platform, the PS3 version has bonus content, and the whole three discs thing makes it kind of clear that this was not originally intended to be a 360 game.

3 discs is a bit of a turn off for my 360. I really want to show my ps3 some love but it's the feckin controller (petty I know) I just doesn't feel right.

@Xeon121 That's funny I feel the exact same way about the xbox controller, to each his own and all but isn't hilarious we end up choosing our consoles over such a small detail.

This game looks amazing, I can't wait.

@Hugh

Totally I think off all the multiplats I decided to go for on the 360 over my ps3 and it boils down to a controller!

Lol go figure

Hoping it turns out good. @Cynical: I though most the trailers were in game, cinematic experience and such.

@/PhilK3nS3bb3n there's a big difference between cinematics and gameplay.
