It looks like the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 5 is getting its own little exclusive feature -- "playable Xbox Avatars."
Activision has announced today that the game will allow players to import their customized Avatars, choose an instrument, and watch them rock out behind those cascading note highways. Additionally, you'll be able to further customize Avatars inside the game's Create-a-Rocker mode. You know, in case that Fable II shirt you bought from the Avatar Marketplace isn't quite doing it for you.
Guitar Hero 5 ships on September 1. You can check out a trailer of the Avatars in action after the jump.
Awesome addition to something that I won't be looking at 90% of the time. I want to import my generic Home zobie avatar though, way cooler. Although an ensemble with hitler and peewee Herman Mii's on the Wii would rock :-P
This was never officially revealed; I also didn't realize the Achievements were available anywhere. I have known about this for awhile, too, but that doesn't mean we're not going to report on the official announcement.
@zombiekiller13: I was wondering the same thing. I initially thought that this might be a cooperative move between Activision and Microsoft to help move premium avatar clothing and accessories for in-game use. However, if you can customize them within the game for free, that theory kind of falls apart. I imagine the reverse holds as well, in that you won't be able to export the in-game modifications to the dashboard, since it would cannibalize Microsoft's attempt to sell you avatar gear.
@Rational Animal- Perhaps the avatar customization options are unlockable after meeting certain in-game goals? It'd be a really good move on Microsoft's part to use a big franchise like Guitar Hero to spotlight the achievement-tied avatar unlockables coming to the 360 with the next update.
Hmm, I think its a pretty cool extra feature. Finally do something in-game with the avatars, and its probably easier on the eyes than the default GH models.
I guess they aren't so strict on the rules after all.
"Player's avatar talks
The player's avatar should not have their own voice. They are allowed to make individual sounds, such as laughing and crying but otherwise cannot use a voice.
Replace Avatar features
The features of an avatar cannot be hidden or in obscured and cannot be replaced with alternative items. Items such as, but not limited to, masks, hats and alternative clothing, are not allowed."

I am actually kind of excited for this :D
Anyway still getting it for Band of Horses.

I saw that too. That is going to be hard to see, unless they make the measure lines grey or something.

That aside, the lip-sync is really off-putting.
