Rock n' Roll Climber an Ice Climber sequel or groupie simulator photo

The OFLC has rated a Nintendo published title called Rock n' Roll Climber, and Siliconera has begun to speculate that it may be a sequel to the classic NES title, Ice Climber. As pointed out, Vitei, the game's developer, previously worked on 1080 Snowboarding and a Japanese-only puzzle title, Theta.

While I have fond memories of the original (and that damned bird that used to steal my vegetables), and I'm not ruling out the chances of a sequel, what could Rock n' Roll Climber actually be? I mean, Ice Climber made sense since you climbed, you know, ice.

But Rock n' Roll Climber is open to interpretation. It could be a game about climbing rocks, sure, but what about the "roll" portion of the title? The only thing I could think of is that Nintendo is getting in on the popularity of music games and has Vitei working on a title about groupies. Where you actually physically work your way up the rock n' roll food chain. It would be like Rock of Love, but with 100% more wooden mallets.

Yeah.

Talk about a broad interpretation of the word "sequel".

"Fond memories?" You better play Ice Climber again now 'cause it has got to be one of the most frustrating games ever made, especially horrible controls and boring levels. Two levels with a friend and you are ready to stop. I also had fond memories until I downloaded it when it came out on the Virtual Console.

I have always thought an Ice Climber remake with 3D graphics for DS would be rad, but Rock N Roll Climber....?

I'm betting it's a Guitar Hero game featuring all the best songs about ice and climbing.

So, we get Mountain Song by Jane's Addiction, Trapped Under Ice by Metallica, and...uh...

A Rock n' Roll game (placed on the 50's) were you have to "climb" to be the #1 in the sales chart!!

Wii Music with an actual challenge perhaps?
