Rock Band getting 'Rockin' the Holidays 2008' downloadable track pack next week photo

After complaining about the lack of holiday songs in music games, Harmonix and MTV Games have revealed to MTV Multiplayer that next week's Rock Band update will fill that gaping hole.

The "Rockin' the Holidays 2008" track pack will include three songs -- "Hanukkah Blessings" by Barenaked Ladies, "Christmas Is The Time To Say I Love You," by Billy Squier, and The Prentenders' cover of "Blue Christmas." The pack will be available on December 23, just in time for Christmas; although MTV Multiplayer doesn't mention any pricing, something tells me it's not going to be free ... although this is the season for giving, guys.

Considering how everyone reacted to this week's country song releases, I can only imagine the backlash Harmonix/MTV Games is going to have to deal with over holiday songs.

[Update: The songs will cost 80 Microsoft Points each (or $1 on PSN) or 240 Microsoft Points (or $3) for the full pack.]

That blacklash against the Country songs went away once people saw the Guitar charts for the songs especially Sin Wagon.

.... How can they do a 'Christmas' pack for ROCK BAND, and not include this?:

I think the Barenaked Ladies cover of "God Rest Ye Gentlemen" would be a better choice.

You could do a duet with your special lady friend too.

@DarkTetsuya:

The day they start releasing song parodies as DLC is the day that I hop on the bitch-wagon.

If GH puts out a Christmas pack, I hope it's not full of poop like this one. Also, I hope it's free.

I was wondering if they'd do something like this. Good to see I can still predict somewhat obvious decisions.

I'm also betting Guitar Hero puts out one of these as well, probably including an overcharted guitar solo. It's like I'm a modern-day Nostradamus.

Nihon you are being redundant my friend. All Christmas song lists suck ass. That's why people don't listen all year around. Shitty and Christmas List mean the exact same thing.

I've waited WAY too long for some BNL. Just wish it was a regular song from them.

Let's get some Wizards in Winter. Screw the vocals. Trans-Siberian Orchestra would be awesome.

@weedgan

I can't remember the name of that song (the real one) but I know there is an awesome rock version of it with wicked guitar, and they should put THAT in

gah

Pass on these. No thanks.

What about some of those Christmas tracks from the "Very Special Christmas" albums of the 90's? There's Smashing Pumpkins, Tom Petty, Run DMC, Salt n Pepa...

Or maybe some decent finds like Wonderful Christmastime by McCartney, Jingle Bell Rock, or Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses?

This just seems like leftovers of cheap-to-license holiday tunes. Hopefully the week after we won't have shitty New Years tracks. I'd like to have something decent to rock in the New Year.

I hope it's free. I'm not going to pay money for a pack that I'll only play once a year.

And it needs more Trans-Siberian Orchestra. :(
