Rock Band finally comes to Australia photo

You know how Rock Band 2 is your new favorite thing to play, and how much fun it is to invite friends over and rock out to all the new songs? Let me present an alternate scenario -- imagine if your friends overseas had had it for months, and you had to sit on your hands in America and wish you knew what it was like. Feel glum now? Now you know how Australia's been feeling since the game's release -- it's never been available there.

Perhaps Activision's recent announcement that Guitar Hero World Tour would be released in multiple territories lit a fire under EA's ass, because they have announced that Rock Band (the original game -- no word of when the sequel will come out yet) will finally come to the land down under on November 7th. Here's the skinny on prices from Gamespot:

The product will be sold in multiple configurations with hardware only bundles on all platforms--consisting of one guitar, microphone, and drum kit--carrying an RRP of A$199.99 ($166.47), the hardware bundle including software will cost A$249.99 ($208.23), and standalone drum kits and guitars will retail for A$129.99 ($108.30) and A$89.99 ($74.99) respectively.

Now maybe I can finally rock out with Destructoid's own Aussie import, the lovely FooLiz. As long as one of us doesn't mind playing in the middle of the night to make up for the time difference, that is.

[Thanks, Joe]

Well at least they only have to wait another year for RB 2 to arrive.

At least it is not as expensive as in Germany where we have to pay 150€ (Hardware) + 70€ (Software) (it's: $222 for hardware, $103 for software).
So, $325 for a Game which we had to wait nearly a year too ;)

Also, wait for GH world tour, it will be cheaper, release in november (in europe) and well .. they don't try to rip off us who dont live in the US!

If anybody from Australia actually buys this, I will be utterly disappointed. Who the fuck would you support a company that doesn't even care about the country you live in? They only released this because Guitar World Tour is coming out and they want Activision to grab onto a less cash load in Aus.

Yeah EA, I would have given a shit with the rest of Australia if you released Rock Band on time. Who the fuck is going to buy an outdated game and outdated hardware when we could just import Rock Band 2 if we wanted it THAT much.

Fuck you EA. I hate you. I will always hate you. You MADE me hate you. I hate you more than a fat kid hates exercise. I hate you more than an old man hates technology. I hate you more than the world hates George Bush.

I'm going to hate myself for giving EA my money once this finally comes out. If they have any repect at all then they'll push for Rock Band 2 to be released here by the end of the year.

Err...

Russell Crowe isn't Australian.

But Russ lives (mostly) in Coffs Harbour/Sydney... So he can buy it now to play at home... yah!

He'd be happier if he lived in NZ though... NZ get it on the 31 October, 2008...

Anyhow, after importing the Solus, I'm more than happy to just pick up GH:WT and play RB with the GH drums. If EA had have released RB2 I'd have to think harder about what to buy... but they didn't... so whatever...

EA can go fuck themselves plzkthx? I would have imported this if the shipping for the silly plastic instruments wasn't so expensive. Meanwhile I'll continue to not buy it and just play all the Rock Band tracks via Frets on Fire.

Yeah, I cbloged this earlier. The thing is that if there was nothing else coming out in the next few weeks, I'd buy RB. But there's too many quality releases in the near future to justify spending 250 bucks on RB.
