Rock Band DLC: Slipknot, Simon & Garfunkel, Green Day photo

Today, Harmonix and MTV Games blasted out two press releases about Rock Band DLC. Two! Why? Because they wanted to let you know that on December 15 (the 17 for PlayStation 3), more Green Day would be coming to the platform. My guess, though, is that it's probably not what you personally had been waiting for.

Green Day Pack 2 ($5.49/440 MS Points for the pack, $1.99/160 MS Points/200 Wii Points per track)

"Christian's Inferno"
"Last of the American Girls" +
"Viva La Gloria!" +

For me, this is kind of like that one time when Night Ranger songs came to Rock Band, but not a single one of them was "Sister Christian." Where's this stuff? Oh well, my 11-year-old son will be thrilled, and that's what counts. As for next week's DLC:

Slipknot Pack 01
"Duality"
"Pyschosocial"
"Sulfur"

Individual songs ($1.99/160 MS Points/200 Wii Points)

Simon & Garfunkel - "I Am a Rock" +
Simon & Garfunkel - "The Sounds of Silence" +

Free song (only available for Xbox 360 and PS3)

Light Resolve - "Dreaming of Love" +

(The "+" means it's available on the LEGO Rock Band store as well)

This story is already getting too long. Take it away in the comments -- tell me what you're buying or how you're going to need to buy three more drum sets in order to get through the Slipknot songs.

Green Day is terrible. Ugh.

Nick, are you serious about having an 11 year old? You seriously don't look old enough to have a kid.

I admit it. I'm totally getting that Slipknot pack. I'd prefer some of their older songs though.

I would have liked to have the slipknot song from gh3 with decent charting in rock band. I don't really know any of these Slipknot songs as I don't listen to them. Sound of Silence is funny, though.

I'm with momomo66. Their new album sucks, and all the "fans" know it.

Probably pick up Duality with my next MSP pack. And the free song of course. Unless it's one of those iCarly things.

People still listen to Slipknot? Shocking.

I'm only getting one of their old songs for nostalgia really. Well, perhaps not nostalgia, but it is one of the few of theirs I like.

I just hope the guitar isn't like it was on GH3. That was brutal.

Or, all the people that like it are "fans" that have different tastes than you. Don't try to turn this into something objective. It's just ridiculous.

I wish they'd release the Simon and Garfunkel stuff on The Beatles: Rock Band so you could sing the harmonies.

Dude! I can't wait to jam on with Slipknot. "I Walk Alone" is my favorite, though. Too bad it isn't on here.

So I was going to be happy about having new stuff to challenge me... Until I listened to the songs on Youtube. Now I'm thinking not a single one of them will even hit 5 star difficulty.

Needs more Slipknot from their first two albums. Seriously~ I liked the GH3 track, though. Really improved my three note chord transitioning. It's amazing seeing my friends who didn't play GH3 still struggle with that one aspect while almost matching me note for note on the rest of the score duel.

Sigh...why? Who cares about the newest Green Day tracks? As far as I know, none of them are even singles off that CD, like the last pack was.

GOD DAMN IT HARMONIX. You need to stop putting out shitty Green Day DLC and do songs that people over the age of 14 actually care about, like anything, ANYTHING AT ALL from Dookie or Insomniac. Or even Nimrod.

Less crap, more Harvey Danger "Flagpole Sitta" plzthx

I second this. Anything from that album would be nice. Carlotta Valdez, Private Helicopter, etc. I love that album.

Why do the insist on only releasing shitty new Green Day songs? Give us Basket Case and the one about masturbating and leave it at that.

FUCK YES SLIPKNOT.

Simon and Garfunkel = epic fucking win.
And I agree with the craptastic nature of the Green Day stuff. Give us songs from when Green Day kicked ass, not the polished pop-punk aural abortion of recent years.

I don't play Rock Band, but wow....I feel pity for the person who tries to play the drums on expert (or whatever the highest difficulty is called) with the Slipknot songs.
Remember to stretch! Gonna be a workout.

Slipknot is cool, not good enough to make me buy RB 2 though.

They should have got Nevermore's cover of The Sound of Silence, it would be waaaaaaay more fun to play. Listen to it Here

Or shit, how bout Jeff Loomis' entire solo album? No lyrics but the rest is intense. Check out Miles of Machines

Yes! Simon and Garfunkle! Finally something I want to download. The past few weeks have kind of sucked, so it's good that they're finally putting up something I want. Too bad the Green Day stuff isn't anything noteworthy.

Also Slipknot sucks.

All the Green Day hate is unfounded. "This is bullshit because their music doesn't sound like it did when I was in middle school!" Quit looking at stuff with rose-tinted glasses and give the new stuff a chance.

@Maverick: I did give it a chance. It still sucks. But guess what, it's called personal preference. If you get your panties in a bunch over people hating on some music you like you have way too much time on your hands.
