Rock Band DLC: Seriously, 'Hammer Smashed Face' OMG (update) photo

Okay, so since the release of the first Guitar Hero back in 2005, I've been saying, "Can we get some Cannibal Corpse up in this piece? Specifically, 'Hammer Smashed Face'?" I said it mostly joking, because -- and let's be serious -- that's never going to happen, right?

Well, it's happening. Next week, you can download and play Cannibal Corpse's classic tune in Rock Band, and frighten your neighbors by growling the lyrics "Eyes bulging from their sockets/With every swing of my mallet/I smash your f**king head in, until brains seep in."

"Mayhem Pack" ($13.49/1080 MS Points, or $1.99/160 MS Points per track)

Behemoth - "Conquer All"
Black Dahlia Murder - "What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse"
Cannibal Corpse - "Hammer Smashed Face"
God Forbid - "Empire of the Gun"
Job for a Cowboy - "Embedded"
Marilyn Manson - "Disposable Teens"
Slayer - "Black Magic"
Whitechapel - "This is Exile"

Seriously. This is happening. Oh yeah, and that previously announced Green Day Pack ($5.49/440 MS Points, or $1.99/160 MS per track) is also coming out. But I think after you run through the "Mayhem Pack," you and the entire party will be, like, totally spent.

[Update: The article originally said that the Mayhem Pack would be set at the standard three-pack price of $5.49. That's incorrect -- the eight-song pack will actually cost $13.49 (1080 MS Points). Sorry!]

If you can make out the lyrics to HSF then you deserve a medal.

So it probably wont.

@JamnOnTheOne:

My guess is that the profanities will be edited out; the DLC content has to reflect the ESRB rating of the retail game, which is T. While I guess it would be possible for them to release the content unedited, the ESRB would then be forced to change the rating of the game at retail (see also: the Oblivion mod fiasco). It's just not worth it. No one is stopping you from not throwing in the profanities when you sing along, though. The ESRB doesn't prevent that. Yet.

I will never complain about a week of DLC ever again! This makes up for all the bad stuff. :D

@Nick Chester

They can't have an F-Bomb without getting an M rating but the vivid description of bludgeoning someone to death with a hammer is acceptable under the Teen rating? Gotta love that ESRB.

And shouldn't the DLC content fall under the "Game play experience may change online" disclaimer since the songs are being purchased online? There has to be some kind of loophole to end these censorship shenanigans.

Black Magic will be fun, but it's about time for Angel of Death. Or better yet, a Slayer track pack.

They call it the "Mayhem" pack, yet there are no songs by Mayhem.

Job For A Cowboy should just disappear off that list and this world. Just shove Arsonists Get All The Girls on there instead and it will be improved and a half.

@Cuntbutt:

I don't believe DLC applies to the "game experience may change" thing. This is just my understanding based on what I've heard, it's by no means case closed, end of story. I don't approve DLC or certify it or work for the ESRB, so I'm just going on what I've heard.

And yeah, I find it hilarious that a song about slaughtering someone with a hammer is "A-OK" but dropping the f-bomb is not. Again, I don't make the rules!

@Grandmas Boy:

Agreed.

@-PL-

In my excitement about "Hammer Smashed Face," I neglected to mention that the "Mayhem Pack" is a result of ROCKSTAR MayhemFest. http://www.mayhemfest.com/

Yeah, I know you don't make the rules. I just had to vent a little and it wasn't really cblog worthy. :)

Also, I'm actually Suff0cat. Hamza thought it'd be funny to change my name a few nights ago and he's clearly forgotten to change it back. lol

It's about fucking time.

Since they've started expanding the FUCK outta RB and GH, there needs to be an extreme metal iteration. Desperately.

This Is Exile on vocals (trying properly, not just whispering) is gonna be pretty tough considering how fast Bozeman spits rhymes.

This is what makes me want to buy Rock Band/Rock Band 2.

I'm usually a huge vocal advocate for GH games because I like buying the games for cheap once they're old, and DLC prices almost never drop in price; I'm vehemetly opposed to the current DLC content and pricing strategies. There are a few other really awesome seemingly-exclusive DLC packs for Rock Band that would greatly interest me... perhaps I will get around to buying a cheap copy of RB2 and picking up just those few select pieces of exclusive DLC.

I agree with the fact that ESRB rules are stupid. One of the album covers in the free 20-song pack that I downloaded has a topless woman in profile. Sure, her boob is painted, but there's enough there to make it awkward to play that game with family. That and the Nirvana cover.
