Rock Band Avatar 'rocks' Xbox Live or something photo

I've spent a lot of MS Points on Rock Band songs, but very few on Avatar items. By "very few" I mean zero. So Harmonix and MTV Games introducing Rock Band Avatar items seems like some kind of ploy into tricking me to purchase them. Well, it's not going to work, damn it.

Here's what's available: a bunch of Rock Band Avatar item crap. Drums, guitars, a keyboard. There's even an MTV Awards "Moonman" statue. There's also outfits and stuff, too. If that's your thing.

I'll save my money for the slew of keyboard-supported downloadable content that's sure to hit following Rock Band 3's release. I have enough plastic instruments in real life; I don't need my digital persona walking around with one, too. Anyone feel differently?

Wow, I kind of want these, and yet, no at the same time. I probably won't get any as my avatar doesn't do much of anything anyway, so I don't feel the need to waste points. That said, whatever happened to unlockable avatar items from doing game related things? I want to unlock avatar items...that should be what I get, like achievements.

I really hate pay-for avatar items. I can't understand paying for something that stays on a character that you see for maybe 45 seconds every time you play a game.

Shame on everyone who buys them. Which is a lot of people, according to Microsoft.

Also, not to double post, but just to clarify, I really like the idea of unlockable avatar stuff. That's pretty cool. I just think my $2 is better spent, ESPECIALLY with Rock band. I could buy a song for that.

I *may* be biased being an XBLIG developer, but XBox Indie Games are a much better use of those extra MSP than Avatar items. You could get 5 decent games for the price of a virtual moonman suit.

Why not include these with some new DLC? I don't understand the freakin point behind Avatar Items. I like when I can unlock them in games, but not when I have to pay for them.

@stegersaurus

You ARE biased. But if you had anything to do with apple jack then it's all good.

I give Harmonix enough of my money to keep my virtual band playing new songs....sorry, but I'm sticking to my original idea of NEVER paying any money for virtual avatar items. Why couldn't these just be unlocked in the game? ::sigh::

I think they're neat but of course I would say that.

Having said that for the price of a song I'll pass.

I think avatar items should be from achievement unlocks only. I hate the money grab that MS has been doing with this junk.

Also, damn me to hell for buying the lightsabre :P :)

If community feedback is any proof, everyone has their breaking point when it comes to avatar gear. You might have escaped this latest ploy but rest assured, you'll succumb sooner or later, one way or another :P

I'd never buy those, they are completely useless. If one day they made a game where you could use the avatar lightsaber you bought as a weapon. Or the drums as a power up. Then maybe it would be worth it. But as it currently stands, I'd never buy fake worthless items.

I'd buy it if I didn't spend all of my points on Rock Band songs.

j/k I'd never buy this
