Despite the fact that it sold by the bucketload to ignorant pedants who -- bless 'em -- didn't know any better, Rock Band on the Wii simply wasn't very good, by all accounts. Without access to the full online features, many fans were left feeling unimpressed with the Wii version's inability to deliver fresh downloadable content compared to the highly robust choice on offer with the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Apparently, Harmonix knows this and has "promised" that Rock Band 2 on the Wii will be a "more competitive" experience. Not sure exactly what this means, as it seems to have come from a (probably drunken) conversation between some reps and a guy from Wired. Still, anything can be news if you're able to stretch it longer than two paragraphs and end on a snarky, sarcasting, sniping little comment.
Here's hoping that the Wii version of Rock Band can pull out all the stops. Lord knows it needs to up its game to the stratosphere if it's to survive against the gaming brilliance that is Wii Music.

Are you on crack? They've released three full length albums (Pixies, The Cars, Judas Priest) and a RB "exclusive" The Who's greatest hits.
Because the Wii SKU is arguably the most important SKU whether EA/MTV/Harmonix like it or not. Many will argue that the 360 version is more important and I can see the importance since it outsold the PS3 version but the matter of the fact is that Wii owners eat up music games, GH:3 and GH:Aerosmith sold the best on Wii and Rock Band on Wii sold somewhere between 200 - 300k which is amazing for a super late and gimped port.
No, not on crack. I just couldn't remember whether or not they had released any full albums, hence my question. I suppose the problem is that none of those albums are ones that would stick in my mind or get me to open my wallet, although I do love the Pixies.
To be honest, I don't have any Rock Band DLC that isn't free. I really enjoy the game, but I don't like to play it by myself and I rarely have people over to play. Still, I figured you would certainly set me straight if I was errant in my recollection of Rock Band DLC. Hell, a misstep like that was downright villainous of me!
I don't really care that much because i'm gonna end up buying the PS3 version of either game, but still. Harmonix needs to get their act together.
If they don't make RB2 have the same functionality on the Wii as on the other platforms, including DLC, they're going to get a hell of a lot of returns on their Wii versions and GH:WT will mop them off the floor. And I personally won't mind having to switch SD cards if necessary. Hell, the disc has to be switched out so I'm right there anyway. They could even have a special area in the Amaray case to snap in the SD card.
I do have RB for the Wii and I do enjoy it, but I'll have to go back to Scotty's phrase of "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." You won't get me a second time, Harmonix. Get it right this time.
Oh, and Jagzi11a ... fuck off.
Dick :D.
