Rock Band 2 Wii bundle coming in 'late December' photo

For those of you who have been waiting with bated breath regarding news on the Wii bundle of Rock Band 2, we’ve got some great news -- wait no longer! Contrary to reports from last week that the bundle wouldn’t be available until sometime in January 2009, we have official confirmation from an MTV Games PR rep that that’s not the case:

re: wii bundles at retail:
Wii bundles will Ship late December.

Now, whether or not “late December” translates to “in time for Christmas” is still up in the air, but at the very least, you’ll be able to have a chance at full four-player Rock Band 2 action on the Wii before the end of the year. I say “have a chance at” because we all know that even if the bundle hits before December 25th, shoppers are going to have a hell of a time actually getting their hands on one in stores or online (eBay highway robbery aside, of course).

Still, it’s good to hear something concrete -- and now we know that the ship dates that GameStop (11/18/08) and Amazon (1/9/09) are both wrong. In the case of the former, it was obviously incorrect, since we already know that the standalone game won’t be out until December; and as for the latter, well, I’m sure that holiday shoppers will be ecstatic to find out that Rock Band 2 (Special Edition) on the Wii will be arriving this year.

Be sure to check out our preview of the Wii version of Rock Band 2 -- it’s just as fully-featured as the PS3 and 360 versions!

Cool. I guess.

I'm giving 0% of my money to these new music games as ever since my save would not transfer from my old PS3 hdd to the new, I've given up and have not touched RB in 4 or so months.

I thought we already knew this? Maybe just that the Wii version was going to be late.

Thanks Mix. Sorry, I didn't mean to be condescending in the last comment, I was honestly wondering.

As a Wii-only owner, I am definitely tempted.
