No disrespect to The Outlaws, but I absolutely despise their song "Green Grass and High Tides." For me, the ten-minute southern rock monster stands as a blemish on the track listing of Harmonix's first Rock Band game. And it's not just because I can't get through the song on Expert guitar, and probably never will be able to. The song itself makes me gag a little bit; it's simply not my "thing."
So I was both elated and upset when I heard that you'd be able to export Rock Band 1 tracks to the upcoming Rock Band 2 for a small licensing fee (reportedly less than $5). Would this mean that I would still have to fear "Green Grass and High Tides" appearing in a mystery set list? So I asked: could I not import the offending track into my Rock Band 2 library?
"You could port it over and delete it from your memory," Harmonix's John Drake told me, "like you manage every other song from downloadable content."
He was quick to point out that this wouldn't be done in-game, and would be managed entirely through your console, on the back end. But let me repeat the import part for you guys: I can delete "Green Grass and High Tides" from Rock Band. This is key, folks, and should apply to any Rock Band 1 song you're not particularly fond of.
It should also be noted that you won't be able to port over all of the original game's songs to Rock Band 2; licensing issues may not allow for it. While Harmonix aren't willing to commit and say what songs will carry over, Drake did promise it would be a good handful, saying it would be "more than 50."
One of them had better be "Green Grass and High Tides," because I'm already working on the maniacal laugh I'm going belt out when I delete the bastard from my hard drive this September.
I could barely beat the drums on medium!
can't beat it though
Also, I hope Main Offender just doesn't make it on. That would be awesome. I hate that song with a firey burning passion.
I really hope Enter Sandman isn't one of the songs with licensing issues.
That would make me really sad, and incredibly unsurprised.
This is great news however, because I'll never have to hear, let alone play "The Police - Next To You" or "Fallout Boy - Just Shoot Me in the Fucking Face Instead" again.
Other than that, it's good to hear that I won't have to play Fall Out Boy ever again on Rock Band. Granted that FOB isn't on Rock Band 2. Which if it is that is definitely putting a sale in jeopardy.
I beat GGaHT a while ago on Expert, and I don't care to ever play it again. But who doesn't like The Police? I mean, come on.
Unfortunately, the songs for RB 2 are right on the disc, and not individual files you can manage. :( When Rock Band 3 comes out you can delete Rock Band 2 songs, maybe!
I get this urge to go "HAHA YOU PUSSIES I DESTROY THAT SONG"
But that would be a pretty douchebag move...so I suppose I wont.
....
>.>
This is also my first time hearing that not all of the songs from RB would transfer over to RB2. Shitty.
On a serious note, people are idiots and Fall Out Boy *used to* be good at what they do. Dead On Arrival is a fun song.
Megadeth - Peace Sells
Dream Theater - Panic Attack
Steely Dan - Bodhisattva
Oh yeah, and Fall Out Boy can eat a dick.
Neither can I.
Is the licensing fee per-song, or for the entire thing?
Green Grass and High Tides is actually one of my favorite songs in the game...BECAUSE it's so insane...but then again, there are songs that are more difficult than this song. Period.
The Thrasher pack anyone? 'Constant Motion' by Dream Theater? And I can name other songs that just makes SOME Guitar Hero songs seem like a joke in terms of the note chart.
I guess I'm a glutton for punishment and I would love some insane songs in Rock Band...like Dragonforce, Rhapsody, and maybe some Pantera...and more Dreamtheater...
Again...imo. Also, if a freakin song is SOOOO difficult, just change the difficulty...not hard.
I think Through the Fire and Flames would be much easier if you had access to solo frets and just the whole song was solo. Or at least the beginning, and then the solos, and the solo fill.
But if you want some awesome guitar work, you should check out Jeff Loomis of Nevermore, I think he just released a solo album that's all instrumental, it's pretty sick. And Nevermore's music is just filled with awesome solos (See "The Psalm of Lydia").
Lastly: How DARE you suggest moving down in difficulty!
And I don't really hate the difficulty as much as I truly just don't like the song. :D
Hoorah, I can delete most of those damn bonus tracks. Fallout Boy was and still is good at what they do. The problem is whatever it is they do is terrible.
Go to your console's memory, and you should see individual files for all of your DLC.
