Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

The latest episode of Robot Chicken just went online at AdultSwim and a lot of the parodies were pretty funny. From Sylar from Heroes stealing a bad power, to a Corona ad spoof that is just so wrong, the episode was top notch.

One thing Robot Chicken has always done well are the videogame spoofs. This time, they took Excitebike and showed just how frustrating the game really is. This clip has also made it so that I can never play Excitebike again without screaming "ANUS SHATTERING" when hitting those little ramps.

Seth Mcfarland steals Robot Chicken premise. Gets millions of views, until people realize the Zelda skit was better.
Seth Green releases even more original skit using more obscure NES property. Thus 1-uping Mr. Mcstealy pants.
Bravo Mr. Green, please continue to decimate Mr. Mcfarland and his lack of originality.

Robot Chicken makes a classic parody approximately once every 79 skits. This was one of the other 78 that's about as hilarious as "Disaster Movie".

Destructoid American ignorance strikes the rest of the world again.

Why not just ban international members to make life easier?

Seriously, shut the fuck up people. Here's a recap:

Excitebike guy goes over a few bumps and says it feels "anusshatteringly good", goes through a few wild and crazy bumps and loops and hurts himself.
Ambulance comes to pick him up, and then proceeds to go over previous bumps and loops.

Now quit jerking it over your respective flags and please go on with your daily business.

To non-Americans (like me):

1. Install the ProxySel Firefox add-on.
2. Download a proxy (.csv) list from here.
3. Import the list to ProxySel (should be simple enough to figure out).
4. Find a US proxy that works (I recommend a 'distorting' proxy (they have a 'D' icon) as adultswim blocks CoDeeN proxies which have a 'C' icon). Test by activating it and loading a random page.
5. Turn the proxy OFF and reload this page so the flash player loads fully and the Play button is displayed.
6. Turn the proxy ON and hit play.
7. ????
8. PROFIT!

You could also just wait until the clip ends up on YouTube, but this method should work (with minor changes) on many sites that block US visitors.

PS. ProxySel does not currently work with Firefox 3 - its the main reason I'm still rolling with FF2.

PPS. You could also just set up a proxy separately from your web browser, but I find this to be easier and faster.

Final thought: Its also legal, so no worries there.

The BBC's lockout actually has some logic. Since it's funded by taxpayers, it really isn't right for people who haven't paid the TV tax to view BBC content. Incidentally, this has caused an issue where the BBC is trying to figure out how to deal with UK people who watch stuff on their computer but don't own a TV. It'll be interesting to see how that is resolved.

Anyway, there's zero excuse for a non-taxpayer funded company to not broadcast outside of their own borders. I know it's because of how they sub-license their content to companies in other countries, but that sort of model simply does not work on the internet and it is their fault for attempting to continue with a failed business model. Especially when piracy is international. You know your business model has failed when it is easier for somebody like me to download a video off of a torrent site than attempt to find a legitimate way of viewing it without jumping through hoops like proxies.

This is just one example of what those of us who don't happen to live in the US go through. I really think that if companies don't wake up and start catering to international audiences, the Internet will basically become segregated. The US and all its stuff will be on one side, and everyone else will be on the other side, with little overlap.

I'm not going to jump through the hoops of setting up a proxy. Not when there are other sites (like YouTube or Nicovideo) with plenty of content for me to view.

@bVork

I completely agree; this sort of practice simply should not be happening in the age of the internet; it is unnecessary, avoidable and divisive. The way I see it, investing ~5 minutes into setting up a proxy that could solve problems on sites like adultswim, Hulu etc for years to come is an efficient way of accessing the content - especially compared to the hassle of torrents or waiting for the content to appear on a site like YouTube. This doesn't solve the problem in the long run (there is no 'quick-fix' in this case), but it's an effective workaround if you just want to view the odd video quickly.

Living in a country that isn't the US can sometimes feel like a disability in terms of getting the latest content (be it game releases or online videos) but at least in this case, there is a workaround.

YOU shut the fuck up, without Region CockBlocking the world would be a better place. I could buy episodes of Fist of the North Star directly form Toei for the price of a bottle of Iron Bru (The best non alcoholic drink in the world bar none), I could also watch shows that will never show up on tv because TV sucks over here and I could also comunicate with my brotheren around the world rather than be forced to talk to my fatheren at my home.

Americans created RegionCockBlocking and hence, they are the enemy. All people who have told innocents to shut the fuck up are hence forth members of an oppressive regieme of some sort.

Also, you don't get to see the new Doctor Who legaly untill a year after the fact from now own, I've disscussed this with Sci-fi and they agreed.
