Risen screens are some screens from Risen photo

Despite the fact that it looks a little generic, I'm quite looking forward to Deep Silver's upcoming PC and Xbox 360 RPG, Risen. I don't know why, outside of my soft spot for Western-themed roleplaying games, but I am still quite interested in checking the game out. Anyway, here are some pretty pictures.

The human characters look a little big bland, but I'm liking the creatures, especially the eyeless gorilla tube-mouthed thing in the header image. Hopefully this'll be a good title to keep me going until Dragon Age hits.

Did you fact-check this? I'm inclined to believe that Risen screens are in fact, not screens from Risen.

I shall seek out Demon's Souls as an alternative to this new evil.

I do wish gaming journalists would stop using the word "generic"; it makes them all sound the same.

I was hoping this would hit PS3 as well, I loved Gothic 2 so much - despite being strictly Tolkein in its world and setting, the AI was amazing and gave NPC and Animals purpose, and schedules long before Oblivion touted the feature.

For example, Animals would hunt one another. So if you were being chased by a Wolf (as you are in the start of the game), just run through a flock of sheep, and the wolf soon loses interest in you! This applies to all manner of beasts in the game - and is how I beat a massive ork, claimed his axe as proof.

Another good example is if you are killed by Bandits, for the fade to black, you see them actually robbing your corpse. There's no point to this other than to show that they're alive and have their own intelligence. How many times have I been killed in Oblivion by "bandits" who walk away as soon as they've felled me! There's even less point in that!

Could've been written 2 years ago about a different game!

Nice graphics, but what about the game mechanics? Cause like everybody else is saying, this does look, meh.
